Got this in the mail today out of the blue. Not sure if it means they are actively looking at my case now or if it's a generic notification (I never sent an inquiry or anything like that).

I got the exact same notice on 04/28/2018

Guess what? I got a letter in the mail today! I got my biometrics appointment letter. Finally! After 10 months!  I wasn't even expecting one anymore. I thought they would reuse my old biometrics. It's not an approval letter, but it's great to finally hear from them. In a month or so, most of us will be eligible to apply for citizenship anyway. Did anyone receive their biometrics letter this month?

When is your biometrics appointment? I also have a letter from USCIS coming in the mail today. I never received biometrics either.  I’m afraid my biometric appointment will interfere with a planned trip in two weeks from now (if it is my biometric appointment)

Haha, congrats!:) got the same letter this morning. Thought it would be smth different since I already received the exactly same one in September. It’s like USCIS decided to remind us all that they actually do work on cases 😁

Me too. I have been waiting  more than 1 yr ( i751 submitted 7/19//2017) I to get  a letter saying that I need to go in and do it and I (FINALLY!)  got this  (dated 5/5/2018. Received 5/12/2018)  saying that they will reuse the previously captured fingerprints/biometrics .

Anyone: I have been reading about people's 1st year extension expiring soon. Mine is expiring Sep 29. 2018. My passport is expiring May 2019. I am planning on renewing the passport by the end of this month ( can do within a year of expiration) and hopefully get it back by the end of June.  Questions (1) I don't have to worry abut the i94 (expired) visa in the current passport , correct? In that I don't have to let the Canadian Government to keep this visa ,correct?  (2) As soon as I get my new passport, shall I call my local USCIS about getting an extension stamp? When I call them, do I just ask about getting a stamp or do I make an appointment to go and ask them this question?

Congrats to those waiting for their long await biometrics appt.  Yippee!

Strange that the July 2017 I-751 is a buzz with this....and June is silent.  Weird....maybe it's a sign???

Anyways, @tdtoca, while I was visiting Canada I went directly to the passport office and got my passport renewed.  They asked me if I wanted to keep the old passport and I said yes not because I needed the expired I-94 visa but because I wanted it in my hands and not someone else's.  That visa is not needed so let them keep your old passport if you wish.  Yes, as soon as you get your new passport back book an info pass appt and get the stamp.

If your field office is one of those super busy ones and you have access to securing an appt one month out, I would start hunting down an appt as soon as you send in your renewal application, otherwise you've lost another month.

On another note, you might want to look into passport mailing fees, it's ridiculously expensive.  If you have a trip to Canada planned and a passport office is nearby, you just might want to co-ordinate your visit accordingly.  I don't know if they still allow passport pick up in person for those not expedited, but if they do, this is the cheapest option.
