Hey folk`s, im also a July 17, filer.  Sent my front loaded ROC to VCS. They got it on July 31 2017 got my bio metrics appointment letter on Aug 18, 2017. Biometrics appointment done Sept 7, 3017 in Charlotte NC, after that the waiting game begins.

Just to give you updates about VCS process, they are currently in slow mo process with all the immigration reform. You may speak and request for a level 2 officer, which is gonna ask you for a call back time to speak to them. ROC at the moment may take 1 1/2 year for its turn around time this the maximum time frame.USCIS will automatically add additional extention in the event the 1 year extention will be expiring soon. I would immediately call them at least 2 months ahead of time if you think you case hasnt move yet especially if its close to a year.

USCIS Processing center normally upates every 3 months, updates are posted usually on every 30th day of the month. You may request for expedite for processing of your case but only on extreme hardships and events and will have to provide bulletproof documentation. An info pass will be needed to see an immigration officer in person in the event that you need to request an expedited request.

Interviews are normally waived if you have supplied enough documentation on your application. Were talking about bulletproof evidence and completed forms, though an RFE usually gets sent out right away if they need additional documents.

Questions for those who are curious if they can file for naturalization while waiting for the ROC to be approve:

2. Spouses with Pending Petitions and Naturalization Applications:An application for naturalization may not be approved if there is a pending petition for removal of conditions. If an applicant’s petition to remove conditions is pending at the time of filing or is filed prior to the interview, USCIS will adjudicate the petition to remove conditions prior to or concurrently with the adjudication of the naturalization application. What argument would be appropriate for an expedite processing?

VSC is taking on average 11 to 12 months to approve applicants whereas CSC is taking on average 17 to 18 months. USCIS updates its processing timeline every month.

I understand that ROC process approval will take time but all I want is to get my biometrics done ( last set was in 2015 ) .  There are several of us (coincidentally mailed application between 14-23th July??)  who has not gotten their biometrics letter as yet , however those who mailed before or after , received their biometrics letter.

I called today and was told the same thing again ... long procession time blah blah. Was also told that I can't compare my situation to someone else which is ridiculous as we are both submitting to the same Center ( CSC) for the same function ( I751) .

Back to waiting....  Btw: is there a newer update Jul2017 i 751 flier  link? I bookmarked a link which I presume that if/when updated, it will be the latest when I next view it.

I am also waiting for my Biometrics appointment, I have called several times, at least five and it is always the same response about the long processing time, it is impossible to get an infopass, no appointments available, this is so frustrating. :(

USCIS sent me an email as an answer to the service request that I submitted on January 29th over the phone. The email says that they are able to reuse my "previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics". It took them over 6 months to say it but I gladly take it!

Very strange this inconsistency over use of previous fingerprints and biometrics.

We all followed a similar time line in the first round of fingerprints and biometrics for the original 2 year Green Card.

So now two years later . . . how can some of the fingerprints and bios be 'out of date' and need be repeated (as most of us have already done) . . . and yet others such as Anna's be 'OK for current reuse?'

Hi C. Higgins,

Could you please give some details on what this Chrome extension is, how to install, how to set up to auto refresh, and how specifically to set up for USCIS appointments?

Many of us know zero about these sorts of things . . . so please don't leave any steps out.  :-)

Thanks a lot,

Leo

What I did was using Chrome as my internet browser, I went to the Webstore and loaded an extension called "Auto Refresh" You should just be able to search for it.

Once it was added, there was a little icon in the top right corner of my broswer that looks like a refresh button. I then went to the USCIS page where it it searched for appointment dates and then clicked the refresh icon. It will drop down options on how often to refresh your page. I set mine to every 30 sec I think and then I just let it run on my computer. I had an appointment booked within the hour.

How long it takes would depend on when they add new appointments, so I may have lucked out. I did this while I was at work, so I could just leave the window open while I did other things at my desk.

Hope it works and you get an appointment! Once I did, I was able to get movement on the biometrics. I ended up not requiring them, but the letter came to me quickly after the appointment.

OK C. Higgins, thanks a lot for posting this info.

Wife will not be at the stage of needing this until July or so this summer, but wanted to start getting this type of info and procedures together to be ready  when needed.

Are you guys going to file for citizenship this year as well? Just a quick question, if we filed for citizenship and got called in for an interview before I751 approved. Do both of us have to appear for the interview or just the beneficiary? If filed after approval of I751, is it interview for both or just beneficiary?

Questions for those who are curious if they can file for naturalization while waiting for the ROC to be approve:

2. Spouses with Pending Petitions and Naturalization Applications:An application for naturalization may not be approved if there is a pending petition for removal of conditions. If an applicant’s petition to remove conditions is pending at the time of filing or is filed prior to the interview, USCIS will adjudicate the petition to remove conditions prior to or concurrently with the adjudication of the naturalization application. See the link for more info: https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartG-Chapter5.html

UNFORTUNATELY YOU CAN`T FILE FOR CITIZENSHIP UNTIL YOUR REMOVING OF CONDITION IS APPROVE.

Ugh...I believe the quote from USCIS is indicating that you can file for N400 with pending ROC but it just won't get approved until ROC is approved first. This is what we were told by our immigration attorney last year as well.

No, you are misreading.  Nothing in your quote says filing for naturalization cannot be filed while ROC is still pending.

It says that naturalization will not be approved while ROC is pending.

Further it says, that both can be adjudicated concurrently.  Concurrently means 'together at the same time.'

As a follow-up to the idea of applying for citizenship vs waiting for ROC to complete, all of us here (or our spouses) have applied in July 2017.  All would be eligible to apply for citizenship in July 2018 and all can apply even without receipt of 10 year Green Card.

However,  reading thread for July 2016 filers and other months before that . . . it appears that those who do this merely find out that their applications for 10 year Green Card are suspended when citizenship is applied for.  Then you are transferred to the waiting list for citizenship which will probably take another 12-18 months or more.

So do we as individuals want to wait something like 14-18 months for 10 year Green Card; or forego the 10 year Green Card and wait 24-28 months or more (from July 2017) to get Citizenship.

Doing some math:

1) Apply for citizenship in July 2018.  Then no 10 year Green Card can be expected and person will be faced with multiple trips needed to get Passport stamped with extensions.  Citizenship might be received by December 2019.

2) Wait for 10 year Green Card which  might be received by December 2018, and would probably entail one trip to get Passport stamped with extension.  Then apply for Citizenship which might be received by June 2020.
