Yes, that is correct.

Very useful for all July 2017 filers to go read entirely and follow the July 2016 filers thread.

Gives you a very good handle on how they have progressed and allows you to relax and wait until Fall 2018 to have your heart attacks, ulcers, etc.  Until then . . . try to lead a fun life.

Update: on  Saturday Oct 14 I got a letter from USCIS. I was mentally doing cartwheels until I opened it to read that they are experiencing longer processing period  blah blah blah and my name has been electronically added to the appointment scheduler. I will receive an ASC appointment notice by mail once an appointment date has been established for you.

REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYY ?? Tell me something that I do NOT know!!   So back to waiting.  I might call early November but who knows?!

Have been waiting for biometric appointment over 4 months! I have called several times. Last time Dec 6th spoke to tier II and they put a request scheduling my biometric. The office told me ill receive a response on Dec 21st and I did. It was saying the same thing "we experiencing longer processing period  blah blah blah and my name has been electronically added to the appointment scheduler. I will receive an ASC appointment notice by mail once an appointment date has been established for you".

Please help. Its been over 4 months

I called the USCIS 1-800-375-5283, before Christmas because I was tired of us not having a receipt number. (Due to never receiving a biometrics/ASC appointment letter, we've never had a "valid" receipt number to check our case status.)

I have submitted two case status inquires thus far.  The first one was back in September, and the second one was in early December. The inquiry from September only generated another copy of the NOA1. We still haven't heard back anything from the inquiry we made in early December. However, I called again because we moved and I wanted to make absolutely certain that they had the correct address for our case processing (because we didn't have a case number, I was worried the "receipt number" on the NOA1 wouldn't work.)

Well! This apparently allowed me to get bumped up to a Tier II representative who gave me the first answers I've received in five months! He not only confirmed that they have the correct address on file, he gave us a receipt number to use from now on to check our case status. However, he also told us that there is NO WAY we will hear from the USCIS about biometrics any time soon, unless we go in for an InfoPass appointment. And he said there's NO WAY our case will move forward without those biometrics.

Thus, I've been checking our local USCIS office every day for appointments, but NOTHING shows up.  Has anyone had any luck booking an Info Pass Appointment? We live four hours away from the closest office, so it would be difficult for us to get to the appointment with only a day or two's notice. Arrrgghggggh...

All that we are and all that will be we dedicate to the One who brought us together

I too am still waiting ( last called mid December) and my I751 was received end of July.  In regards to INFOPASS, I thought that we don't do that until our extended period is (close to) expiring and still waiting for ROC to be completed?! Can someone confirm?

Also calling local USCIS office ..  is it just calling them and asked if you have been scheduled?

Muja, all of us here (or our spouses) have applied in July 2017.  All would be eligible to apply for citizenship in July 2018 and all can apply even without receipt of 10 year Green Card.

However, with respect to getting your approval (for 10 year Green Card) 'before that' as you say, you should read the thread for July 2016 applicants.  Virtually none of them received 10 year Green Card by July 2017 . . . so a bit foolish perhaps to think anyone here will get 10 year Green Card on or before July 2018.

And another aspect:  As I noted above, we can apply for citizenship in July 2018.  However, again reading thread for July 2016 filers and other months before that . . . it appears that those who do this merely find out that their applications for 10 year Green Card are suspended when citizenship is applied for.  Then you are transferred to the waiting list for citizenship which will probably take another 12-18 months or more.

So do we as individuals want to wait something like 14-18 months for 10 year Green Card; or forego the Green Card and wait 24-28 months or more (from July 2017) to get Citizenship.

Doing some math:

1) Apply for citizenship in July 2018.  Then no 10 year Green Card can be expected and person will be faced with multiple trips needed to get Passport stamped with extensions.  Citizenship might be received by December 2019.

2) Wait for 10 year Green Card which  might be received by December 2018, and would probably entail one trip to get Passport stamped with extension.  Then apply for Citizenship which might be received by June 2020.

Thanks for the information. And calculation about both timings great..

Did you have any success at your local USCIS office? Did they do the biometric for you without any appointment scheduled?

Hi!

We haven't even been able to schedule an appointment! It's been VERY frustrating.  We've checked online every day for the last three weeks and they never have any openings.  I am not sure if we should just try a walk in? But we live four hours away from the Office and we're not even sure if they accept walk-ins.  So it would suck to show up at the Office after driving four hours, only to be turned away.

They also don't have a phone number to call them. Sigh.

Does anyone know if the USCIS offices take walk ins?
