I had an interesting experience at the DMV today. My NOA is 7/19/17 and like many others I received the courtesy copy of the 18 month extension. My drivers license was set to expire based on the 1 year extension so I went to the dmv to get the license extended for the additional 6 months noted on the courtesy copy. Like always the dmv sent my documents to USCIS to determine when they should set the new license to expire. They got the approval back and to my surprise they gave me a new 8 year (this is the max in my state for a standard license) license rather than the expected 6 month extension. Maybe I’m thinking to much into this but my thought is USCIS May have already reviewed my application and let the DMV know it’s good to go. Otherwise why would they allow them to give me a 8 year license. Interested to hear what everyone thinks?

My analysis:

1) Surely you don't believe DMV sent your documents to USCIS to determine anything.  Just think, we all here are waiting months to hear anything.  So you suppose USCIS is going to respond quickly to anything asked by a DMV office?

2) The decision to give the 8 year license was made by a supervisor at the DMV or . . . it could be that the DMV window clerk merely make a clerical error when they meant to give a 6 month license.

Although you may think my number 2 (regarding simple error) is far fetched . . . that exact thing happened to someone I know.

Processing time for VSC 14.5 -17 months

Maybe the day I called USCIS to ask about my case and mine was in the middle of processing time (before 13.5 - 16.5 months) then it made them increasing the time more ...lol 😵😵 . I’ve been waiting 14.5 months , now just reach the range time when they changed it. Haizza.

Does anyone have July 3 filer VSC still waiting like me???

Btw, congrats to you guys just got approved .

Still no news on my ROC but I got scheduled for my N400 interview on Nov 6, 2018. Maybe a combo I751 & N400 interview?

My husband went today to renew his drivers license (TN).  He took his passport with the I 551 stamp and all the letters. The lady looked up his info and asked if he had gotten his card yet bc its showing approved.  He of course said No. Lol.  Like, if he had it, he would have gladly given it!

So she said, well maybe its in the mail.

Approved his license for 8 years and told him he has 8 yrs to bring in the green card so they have it on file.

😊😁

Looks like! I have read stories where people would not get a letter stating that the i-751 is combined but the officer asked where is the spouse. If you don't hear anything about your ROC before your interview, just take your spouse with you. You never know 🙂
