Hi Lara,

That's great news.  My wife is a July 2017 filer in Texas, so we are a CSC filer.  Did the letter give you an additional 18 months from the first letter, or a total of 18 months from the green card date?

It’s from the green card date unfortunately. Wish it was from the other letter. It just says that I need this new extension and my expired green card.. so the old letter is useless now.

So in theory we only get 6mths extension. Correct me if I am wrong..

If GC is up 9/25/2017 then you got i797 notification that said 1 yr extension from the GC date which brings us to 9/25/2018. And now you get (2nd) extension letter for 18mth from the GC date which brings us to Mar 25/2019?

Why not call it 6mths extension?

I am assuming.... Because you always have to reference your official document which states the expiration date -the green card. Cause the first letter doesn’t give you a expiration, just a time period.  Idk that’s my thought. This way you can also only use one letter... not a greencard and two letters.

So.... I also got my extension letter today. 18 months extension of the greencard from the date it expires. Oh well, seems like they sent them all at the same time for July filers.

Just a proof that USCIS update system is messed up. I already have my green card in hand, but I still just got email saying that USCIS is still reviewing my case. Haha, thanks USCIS!

If by priority date you mean when they received my application then it was July 5th 2017. I got the GC yesterday evening in mail so it took 2 days from the date mentioned in Card has been Mailed notification.

Thanks. Best of luck.....

CSC filer here. Went to SAC office this morning for an INFOPASS stamp  . WHOO!! Got a stamp in my Canadian passport with an expiration date of Aug 16, 2019.  The IO kept my GC ( said it would be shredded) but she gave back the i797 receipt notice/ (1st) extension letter.

If I do end up getting the 18month extension letter,  I presume that the stamp in my passport should take precedent over the extension letter as it would expire later than the 18month extension letter ( which would be expire approx. Mar 2019).

Either way I am just glad that I got an Infopass stamp and I am 'valid' for 1 more yr. Now 'relax' and wait for the 'full' GC.

Congratulations - with I-551 stamp!1 Well, and with  an Extension Letter :)

Since your green card got kept by USCIS,  Extension Letters are useless now - they work only along with a green card.
