My work shift ends at mid night but I have often looked in the middle of the night and nothing ever, at night, weekends middle of the morning or afternoon

I checked uscis website at midnight last night and saw there were appointments available for Pittsburgh office, not the case for Philadelphia office though, which is the one i need.  :(
Try checking the website again exactly at 12:00AM. Good luck !

Thanks for tip off about checking at mid night.  I went to the Pittsburgh appointment list at 12:09 am and they are booked out to August 23, 2019.  They don't let you pick any day but what is showing on the screen which is August 23 when I am out of town at my wife's sisters house for her daughters birthday but now I know what time to check for in the future

I would imagine Detroit is a pretty busy office.

I Just checked for appointment this morning, and there were a bunch available maybe I'm just early. But gives me hope that i will be able to get one. Going to wait till the end of the month to book one to see if this letter arrives... or better the green card but chances of that are looking pretty slim. Processing times say 18-21 months 🙄

I just make an appt for infopass last night. I checked for available appt during the day but it always says “no available appt for the next 14 days”. I decided to check back at 11:59:45 pm and i finally made one. I am going to see officer on August 2018 for stamp. I am an August 2017 filer (not supposed to be here but just want to share experience) but i am officially out of status on October 2018. My attorney asked me to go for a stamp somewhere this August. I will update soon as long as i go there. I am at Vermont service center.

I'm almost positive they will issue the same card for you with the same restricted "wording"  - since  this is how your data is in the System and it has never been updated.

And now you don't have an actual valid green card to make that change possible/ restriction removed.

Well, even if you still had it i'm not sure they would remove that restriction now. I think I've seen  that an Extension Letter with an expired green card should work, but in a lot of cases they don't really do any changes without unexpired green card...

It doesn't hurt to try tough - who knows maybe your SS Office will be willing to help and also able to "read" I-551 stamp along with copy of your green card and an Extension Letter.

For now, it's not a big deal. I have the number and a copy of the card and I don't think I'll be leaving my job anytime soon... but I would like to know it's in my home somewhere!

You're probably right though. Different government office, so it's not like systems would be connected and probably would end up with another card with the work auth restriction.

For me, I don't know if I care about that though. I have authorization via my green card, the letter, the stamp, etc. It doesn't really bother me that it's there.

Appreciate the response!

Hi All,

New to this page. Was wondering if anyone's case got an update like mine. I received a notification yesterday - CASE WAS RECEIVED AT MY LOCAL OFFICE  "On August 8, 2018 we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt number EAC17298*****"

For example - i didn't file n400 and my green card got approved 9 days ago. ;)

Hi  :)

A  SS card with restrictions is meant to go with the temporary status , for people  lawfully admitted to the US on a temporary basis who have DHS authorization to work.

Some places may ask to see a copy of the SS (jobs, banks, DMV, Tax preparer and etc) and a restriction tells them that an individual is still being processed.

Also, maybe, there are some benefits LPR is eligible but an Alien lawfully admitted (with EAD for example and restricted ss card) - not.

Besides, it seems like they want to be informed when your immigration status changes

p.9

According to the link  an exp.green card + Ext. letter should work to get restriction removed. As well as I-551 stamp.

https://secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211025#c1d

You are right - it dos not bother and really not required. But at the same time it costs nothing, so why not complete the process and enjoy the" freedom" ? :) :)

Thanks, the link on the stamp clarifies things. From what that says, I think the stamp in a valid passport would work and I can do both in an appointment (replace the lost card and remove restrictions)

I don't know if I agree about the "freedom" part... The restriction doesn't prevent me from doing anything because I have authorization, but I suppose I get what you're saying. I've never had to produce my card for anything that I can think of... only the number.

Appreciate the links to answer the question!
