Hmmmm that brings up an interesting question, and probably one for another thread..... to file for citizenship or not.... there are so many pro's and con's.... as a Canadian, we can have dual, but I honestly don't know if I'd want to.....   hubby and I really haven't talked about it much, the last two years have been an absolute whirlwind. It was usually left at "we'll cross that bridge when we get there".....

Likewise.

About a month ago, I had lunch at the library (I was on a course) and there right in front of me was study guide for becoming an American citizen.  Holy.....to my amazement, I was rather shocked when I perused it.  I bet half of America would fail if given the test!  Yes, I know they make it easy. to pass...but this study guide was B.I.G.!!

As an fyi, you may want to research the guides to pension, retirement, etc.  Somewhere I recall reading if your not a citizen you are not entitled to it should he die.  But, I guess that's another (huge) bridge to cross.  Hence, I'm gearing up to become one.

My patriotism for Canada rivals the most patriotic Americans!!

Mine too.

I find it very difficult to participate in red, white and blue events.  As much as I admire the patriotism of Americans.....through and through, I AM CANADIAN!  Thankfully, my husband understands.

I apologize to whoever responded to my previous post. It's been a while since I've been on here & I apparently can't even figure out how to reply... Bare with me lol. Another question though - section 4 is my husband's info, right? Then again in Part 7? The wording is throwing me off. I know he's the petitioner, I'm the applicant... But why does it seem like they requested more of his info than mine?

Yes, you are correct.  Part 1 is all about you, the person wishing to remove conditions also known as the petitioner.  Part 4 is all about the USC, which I am guessing is your husband.  You complete part 7 as your are the petitioner and he completes part 8 as the spouse and the USC.

Don't stress about forgetting how this site works...I did the same once I returned.

We sent transcripts as they are apparently preferred over returns. I have read that a lot of people didn't bother with transcripts because it was "too much hassle", but it took me all of about 10 minutes to do the online paperwork and print them right from home.

Thank you! I finally got the IRS website to work with me. It was not verifying my phone number. My wife's information pulled it up like a breeze though.

Aaah, okay - thank you. I messed that up completely so I'm glad I asked! I thought he was the petitioner  Maybe that was just for the I-130? Gosh, that feels like ages ago... now I'm back to having no idea what I'm doing lol

It's backward this time.  You are the petitioner wishing for your conditional gc to be removed.  It is confusing, I agree.

And as for the evidence, there's a billion ways to interpret what's needed.  Follow your gut on what you think is enough.  There's overkill, then there is overkill!  If you read up on the guides...specifically the I 751 by cookie cat and june 2017 filers you should get enough info on what you need to include.  Personally, I did not inundate USCIS with overload.  I'm about quality not quantity and work by the premise that sometimes less is more.

I came across this thread from a couple of years ago and really appreciated the insightful answers provided. Definitely giving me food for thought. I'm glad we have almost a year to decide!
