Hi All,

I was able to get I-551 stamp today for one more year. The Officer did not take my GC or extension letter. He also gave me an update on my case saying that the case was getting ready for the local office. However he suggested that I should apply for N400 so they will interview me for I-751 and N400 together.

Thanks

Which local office did you get your I-551 stamp?

Sent n400 in and received notification that biometrics was scheduled and still awaiting i751...

Nice!!!

I am still wondering how the two timeline work? I read online that they cannot adjudicate the N400 without having the I 751 approved.... Not sure if one pushes the other....

I just applied for the N-400 and now I have to deal with getting my stamp and apparently my office (Sacramento, CA) doesn't accept infopass appointments... Driver license expiring Sept. 15th. I guess I'm going to try to call them. Good luck everyone!

Sacramento is also my office and after submitting a request for “help” and getting nowhere with them on the phone, and finding that San Francisco also isn’t taking appointments currently, I ultimately just decided I’d go to Reno instead. It’s super easy to book an appointment there at basically any time of day you want and on any date within the upcoming 2-week window. Plus...free parking!

On July 27, 2017 my wife's I-751 packet for her 10 yr. green card was received. On September 5, 2017 she had her appointment for biometrics and picture.

She received an extension letter good to October 4, 2018.

Last update was her I-751 was received at our local office on April 8, 2018.

Today we received a I-797c, NOA for another appointment for biometrics.

Why would they need it again? Is it for the purpose of giving her another extension letter?

Has anyone heard of immigration and customs detaining an immigrant prior to boarding for an international flight to their home country?

Ive heard of them questioning on entering the united states but never leaving the us.

Yesterday my husband was detained for 20 minutes prior to boarding his flight. This was in miami airport, and they were asking questions about if he was transporting drugs etc and asked for his residency documents. Do they do this at random? Why do you think they would target him specifically?  He did not have the stamp, just the extention letter.

I would think this would be at random.. but not completely sure. Assuming it’s like how they randomly decide to swab your belongings for drugs/explosives etc.

It probably has nothing to do with your husband's immigration status.  I'm a US citizen.  About 3 years ago, I was flying to the Philippines for one of my many visits to my then-fiancee.  I was stopped at the gate by CBE officers in Detroit before boarding the flight to Tokyo, and was questioned about the purpose of my international travel, how much cash I had, etc.  I was tempted to tell the officers to take a flying f---, but decided that they would probably give me more of a hassle with that kind of response.  So, I answered their questions and was then allowed to board the plane.

Wow congrats! I'm surprised they're already touching cases received on the 17th. What are your three digits after EAC17?

They had suspicions your husband was carrying drugs. They would do that to anyone, depending on their destination, length of trip and person’s behavior while they are at the airport. If they look nervous they assume you’re smuggling something or intend to on your way back.
