My wife is currently in the Philippine's and will return soon from a family funeral.  When we departed she carried her expired green card and her extension letter as well as her transient VISA (Philippine Airlines had a stop in Vancouver BC).

She was asked to show the Green Card, extension letter and Canadian Transient Visa at the Philippine Airlines check in counter, she was also asked to show all three items when she wen threw security at John F. Kennedy International Airport.  When she cleared out bound US Immigration she was also asked to provide all three items even though they updated expiration date of Oct 24, 2018 was in the computer.  The reason for this was that IF THE COMPUTERS GO DOWN THEY HAVE NO WAY OF PROVING YOUR GREN CARD WAS EXTENDED.  IF YOU HAVE THE PAPER COPY OF THE EXTENTION LETTER YOUR GOOD TO GO,

Our I-751 was received 25 July 2017.  the wife flys home on 28 July 2018.  Philippine Airlines Butuan City to Manila, then Manila to Vancouver British Columbia, Canada and finaly on to New York City.  She is prepared to show all three documents many times at the various security / immigration check points

@theanswerisdance  so how did you get one for Jul30? or did you book for Reno office?

Correct, I booked for Reno. They only book 2 weeks out at a time but they had (and continue to have) an abundance of timeslots available in that 2-week window. None of the "wait online at midnight for slots to open up and pray you get one" kind of fiasco that a lot of other local offices seem to have, which was a pleasant surprise.

Hello Guys!!

I have great news!!! I just got a mail today where they confirmed that they approved my I751 and that I will be receiving my green card soon.

One important thing that I need to mention is that the receipt # that I have used to check the status of my case was not the good one cuz in the notification I received today in my mail, they had the case # that they used when they sent me the extension letter which is different from the one that they used for my biometric appointment letter...  I know it can be confusing buttt....... I just used the new EAC# and now it says that they already mailed the new green card yesterday.

Anyways, just wanted to share this info with you just in case this could be happening to you as well. My NOA date was July 3, 2017.

Already filed the N400 and already had the fingerprints for that too last week... Will keep you posted.

Congratulations!!!

Out of interest, what did you send? Around a quarter to a third of people are getting RFEs from VSC now.

Actually, I probably sent less evidence than most of u guys:

Marriage certificate

Rental lease

Auto insurance cards

Birth certificates for my two kids

I did not send pics or affidavits or any joint bank accounts statements, so I guess that the best evidence was our two kids.

Fair enough. I think that they are much more stringent on the financial stuff for people who don't have kids. It is quite unlikely that somebody who has had children with their partner is engaged in a sham marriage.

You're so right Bob1963.  When your GC is expired you must travel with the original extension letter that is NOT expired and if it has you need to travel with the NEW Extension letter that extends the expired GC to 18 mos.  If you have not received this new Extension letter then you need to make an infopass at your local field office for a I551 stamp.  This will go into your passport and makes the expired GC and letter invalid.  They would carry no proof to CO at the border. These documents are just like expired DL....it's void, they prove nothing. The stamp in your passport is like the K1 visa or the I-130 visa you received in your passport.  Instead its a stamp and not a glossy visa.

I just clicked the submit bottom of N-400 online with pending I-751 pending. Hopefully, it speeds the case or at least it does not slow things down

Good for you! I suspect with the way things are going at CSC, your N-400 will take the same amount of time.  What's the time frame looking like at your field office?

Am I wrong or as soon as you Launch your n-400, your ROC in VSC is approved within weeks while the others still waiting? It seems I saw that for June and July filers...

I have noticed multiple cases where this happens, so I would say YES.... If you haven't applied for N-400, the waiting time should be close to 13 months
