I got my stamp yesterday in Reno.   All completed in less than 30 minutes.

Officer denied the couple in front of us their stamp.  We were expecting the same but were happily surprised when he took my passport along with my expired GC and extension letter and disappeared into the locked back room.  When he came back he said "yip, you can have your stamp".  It will expire July 13 2019.

He also asked if I applied for naturalization yet.  I said I was procrastinating.  He mentioned that processing in Reno was 8-10 months; fresh data as he was looking at their office stats yesterday.  He also said his data supports July CSC filers will be processed sometime in January 2019.

Looks like the N-400 is the way to go.

Reno office kept my old GC.

Excellent update, thank you for sharing.

I cannot help but wonder why the couple in front of you got denied?  I am very curious about that; perhaps they came far too early on into their I-751 process?

If this person's data is to be believed, and July 2017 CSC filers will be processed in January 2019, it looks like the I-551 stamp is the way to go. In doing my own (purely anecdotal) calculations, I was putting our cohort somewhere around early February, so his data seems to jive with what I was calculating.

Whatever the case may be, I'm happy some of us out there are getting stamps without issue.

Yah, me too!

My guess is they came too early.  I was trying to listen in but the tv was turned up too loud.  Guess they want it that way.  I was going to ask them when they left but the IO called us to his desk to ask us why we were there (we were the only people in the room.

He, fortunately, knew his stuff and was pleasant to deal with.  He was unlike others I have met there.

I should also mention that he fingerprinted and took my snapshot before taking my passport, again with him to the locked room, and stamping it. He did not stamp it infront of us.  Additionaly, he mentioned the new I-751 letters were dated 18 months now but did not state when our cohort would receive this new 18 month letter.

Either case, I'm happy that I can travel without problems.

You'll be fine.  Just be sure you bring all the necessary papers and appt confirmation letter.

Good luck! And I await your post.  I find it interesting how each field office operates.

Hey! I’m doing my application online to apply for citizenship and I’m wondering if u submitted any additional evidence. I just uploaded the green card, the marriage certificate and my husband’s certificate of naturalizations because it was easy to scan now.

Should I resubmit all the evidence that I submitted for the -751? And what exactly should I download for the tax documents ?

thank you all in advance!

Reno office kept my old GC.

Quick question as I have my appointment this week: I am planning on bringing the following to my appointment to get my stamp:

  • Canadian passport
  • Original I-751 receipt notice
  • Green card
  • Social security card
  • Driver's license
  • USCIS appointment notice

Is there anything else that I should bring? I think this all should suffice, but certainly do not want to get caught off guard. Any information would be greatly appreciated if you have time to share!

*****Extension letter, original.******

You will need that since the expired GC is dead.  The extension letter makes it valid.  The security officer wouldn't accept my expired GC as valid id, so I had to use my passport as ID.  I left my DL in the car.

The IO kept my extension letter and expired GC.  He did make me a copy of the GC however.  I'd scan them, both sides, before you attend your appt, just in case you need to reference them at a later date.

Good luck.

Thanks again for the detailed reply! I will certainly keep all of that in mind!

One clarification - Is the I-751 original receipt notice (I-797, Notice of Action) not the extension letter? It starts with text that reads: "Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year from the expiration date on your conditional resident card."

I think it is, but just wanted to be 100% when I walk in the door. Thanks again!

Yes, you are correct.  My bad.  I never referred to it by its correct name....the I-751 Receipt Notice.  Thanks for clarifying in great detail.

You will be fine.....good luck.  I await your recap.

Just an update on the new notification system at the USCIS dhs website (the one where you sign up for an account). After you get the notification that your card is being produced, it changes to this notification and they send the card USPS Priority Mail; it only took 4 days from approval to getting the card:

July 12, 2018

We mailed your card to you. The U.S. Postal Service will deliver it.

You do not need to do anything at this time

The post office will deliver your card to your current mailing address. If your mailing address changes, update your address with us.

If you do not receive your card by August 11, 2018, send us a case inquiry and select that you did not receive your card by mail.

Just FYI.

Though theoretically not applying to us, seriously?

https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-updates-policy-guidance-certain-requests-evidence-and-notices-intent-deny

What about missing documents caused by them?

In the document it is saying green card is also included.

But I am not sure it is for I-751 also ??

Can anyone have idea about this ?????

Effective Date

This updated guidance is effective September 11, 2018 and applies to all applications, petitions, and requests received after the effective date.

I don't think this would affect us since our applications were received prior to this date.

Hi,

I filed for my I751 last July and went to Chicago on the 28th of last month to get my passport stamped.

Although I didn't have any issues getting the stamp itself the office only gave me one for 6 months and

told me I would have to return again in 6 months to get another. I see from other posts that peeps have been getting

theirs for a year and I was under the impression that stamps were for a year. Has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks
