I messed up. What chances do i have

Honestly, I don't think  multiple checks is going to be an  issue... what is an issue is properly making the check/ money order payable to.

Time will tell, of course, but I believe you should be fine.

You are eligible to file for N-400 in about 2 years and 9 months (the same  "90 days window as for ROC) from the date of issuance of your conditional green card.. So, it's gonna be around the same time you filed for ROC - just in a year, next Summer :)

And since ROC currently takes about a year, that's why I believe there is a big chance for some of us to have both applications (I-751 & N-400) pending by next Summer

So just to clarify, if we do decide to go for citizenship (wasn't planning on it but now weighing the pros and cons), it doesn't matter when in the 90-day window we filed I-751, correct? I.e. Our window opened June 1 but we didn't mail till July 5, can we still file N-400 on June 1 next year?

Correct :) It doesn't matter when you filed your ROC - exactly of day 1of your 90 days window or not..

" An applicant filing as the spouse of a U.S. citizen under section 319(a) of the INA may file up to 90 days before meeting the required 3-year period of continuous residence as an LPR."

So, yes, if June 1, 2018 is your "90 days  before meeting that 3 years requirement" , you become eligible to file for N-400 on that day :)

Yes i did..

I re-read the Instruction... Well, it doesn't say it's A MUST to include kids in Part 1 of your I-751 Petition if you acquired your resident status at the same day.. It just says "then include" ..whatever it means.

It's A MUST only if not at the same day or within 90 days thereafter.. So, there is a chance it might be accepted.. But again - I could be mistaken. Only time will show..

really sorry you are experiencing this...

well...they should be rejected, both... I'm sorry - I really am :(

usually, if something is rejected, they send the whole thing back, along with check...

I prefer they reject it. Its worth my $600 from the overpayment, then i can resend. My gc expires oct 11th. I still have some time,  right? Looking at the bright side,  i learnt something.
