Not necessarily.  That would be a very long distance for some.  I highly doubt USCIS would make people travel, hotel, etc just for an interview that is not in their hometown OR state.  More like, your case is cut and dry therefore easy to transfer and they can spend more time going over the more complex ones.

 

I read that they shipped a bunch to Texas some time ago.  I didn't realize they were still doing it.....well, that is, maybe it takes some time to put plans into action and hence why it took so long for us to see the major transfers take place.

Don’t local offices have authority to approve cases? I just don’t understand what the term “preliminary review” means.

I hope that's the case if most cases are cut and dry and a simple process. That would push for faster approvals...

Any Office can approve your case. Very often, when the Office you originally filed with gets busy, they can start sending cases out, to any other USCIS Offices to help with backlog. "New" offices can approve the case, or - still re-send it to your local office if the case requires an interview.

 

My I-485 was approved by Tampa USCIS Office, FL - I live in MO.

Approval of my I-751 came from CSC, not from St. Louis or Kansas-City.

It was June 19, 2017 (NOA1 date). 

 

Sept. 13 of 2018 we got an approval email. 

Sept. 14 of 2018 - another email, stating that Post Office picked up our cards (son's & mine). 

 

I got that msg (glitch?) , about my case transfer on February 26. But never got an actual transfer Notice (hard copy).

Yes, they do but only if the case is sent to them.

 

I would take 'prelim review' to be:  they looked over your file, things appear to be organized and all items present therefore no red flags yet. No immediate RFE necessary.  Your file appears to be rather simplistic in that you don't have money scattered all over the world, you co-mingle all assets, etc.  It meets and passes the initial checklist.  Otherwise it would warrant further inspection, a (possible)  interview or an immediate RFE.

 

I would think the adjudicators at other SC are just as skilled but I would presume they'd want the forward the easier cases and keep those more complex at the main SC.

got the I-797C notice that my case has been transferred to TSC..... 

 

as of today, at least their 17-18.5 month processing time is marginally better than CSC's 18-21.5 months 

 

Maybe for Xmas I'll get our 10 year card! LOL!!

Hello everyone! So I am a VSC filler who has been larking on this page without participating for a few months now. However, I got some good news today and wanted to share with everyone.  On (9/24/2018) my online case status finally changed to "New Card is Being Produced". I got an email and an update on the case tracking app. Below is my timeline:

 

- First NOA was on July, 5th 2017. I cant recall the exact biometrics date but it was in September, 2017. 

 

- Online status changed to "Revived at Local office " on April, 9th 2017. However, as we all know that was not true and my case was at the Vermont Center all along. And I know that for a fact because I changed my address 2 weeks ago and the letter acknowledging the address change came directly from the Vermont center. 

 

- September 24th 2018 I received an email and an update on the tracking app stating "New Card is Being Produced". 

 

1 year and almost 3 months after the wait is finally over. And by the way guys,  we really thought we were getting a RFE letter for sure because we sent barley anything compared to the list of things I have read people send. Good luck everyone! Try not to panic..your approval will come soon.
