Help! Should i resign before my interview?

Hi guys! Well my interview is on july 10, and im planning to resign on my job by july 4. do you think it will affect my interview approval by the consul? since they said that "You should not make permanent financial commitments, such as selling your house, car or property, resigning from your job or making non-refundable flight or other travel arrangements until you have received your immigrant visa.".

 

I wanna know since i still need to render 30 days after i submit my resignation letter. they wont allow.me to resign immediately! Thanks for your answer guys!

They say that so that people don't complain if they don't get the visa. It is not something they take into consideration when making the decision.

I think you're still in the Philippines, and if you're going the IR-1 and want to resign from you job, I assume you're moving to the U.S. if your visa is approved. If this is the case, do you really need to give your employer a 30-day notice? Yes, it'll be nice to give them that time to find somebody, and also if you'd stay in the country, so it's not a red flag for a future potential employer, but if you're leaving the Philippines, that is not as important as it may be if you stay there. I'd wait until you're visa is approved and then give them the notice you need, not necessarily 30-days. Secure yourself first, don't resign before you have a positive answer from the consulate.

 

By any chance, how many days notice an employee receive from the employer when they want to terminate somebody?

You can do that later after you receive your visa. You still have more time (the first 2-3 months once your visa approved) to resign and schedule your flight abroad (USA).

Wait until you get the visa in hand. At that point you decide if you want to give notice or resign with immediate effect.
