Husband managed to get through to them and they reviewed our DS-261 over the phone! Guy on the phone said IV fee will be unlocked in a week, but hopefully it'll be like @larnar1309's case and unlocked much sooner.

The other thing is that my husband says his tax return still isn't ready? He thinks the delay might be because we submitted an ITIN application for me at the same time. Will submitting just a W2 + explanation be sufficient, you guys think?

We also have a joint sponsor who provided tax transcripts.

It's great that you're using a joint-sponsor and that they'll provide tax transcripts. But to have a stronger case, your husband should file his taxes as is, "married filing separately" NRA (non resident alien).   Then when you arrive in the US and get your SS#, file an amended return because you won't be in the US and have a SS# before Oct 15, 2017. He has up to 3 years to file an amended return. For now, you can show proof that he filed an extension.  @chamma Can you please share Synthrian the type of proof they would need.

But Synthrian, the NVC will most likely ask for you to bring proof of 2016 tax returns for the interview because it will be after Oct 15th deadline. My advice, file now, submit copies of his IRS filing with his 2016 w2s/1099's (so whatever he submits to the IRS, must have a copy to submit to the NVC).. If he refuses to file, then you def have to show proof of an extension, plus provide the 2016 w2s/1099's. Also, since he hasn't filed for 2016 yet, he def needs to include 2014 and 2015 IRS tax transcripts.

Actually he did file for 2016, and we also submitted a w7 for me at the same time early this year so that he could file as married, filing separately. He actually did it through his accountant friend. So even if we don't have the return, if we get a copy of the form that he filed and submit that with a w2, we should be able to show proof that he filed?

Now I started worried. So IV fee was paid yesterday and we got a receipt and it was in progress. Now when I signed up in the system it says PAY NOW. It was in progress minutes ago...

I called and they said to check with the bank first and if the payment didn't go through to pay it again using windows explorer not safari. If it did to send an email to NVC with a proof of the payment (bank statement I guess) and they will update it for me. They really need to fix this glitch.

Hey guys!

Called as soon as NVC opened this morning to get my case number. It had been assigned yesterday but I forgot to call last night lol. Submitted my choice of agent this morning. As soon as my welcome letter comes in I'll be phoning to have my choice of agent approved. Fingers crossed for a smooth process at NVC. The advice on this forum has been really brilliant! I feel like I am quite prepared for everything that is ahead of me, so thanks everyone for the great advice.

First scan date 03/29 Missing Birth certificate which I am sure I sent.

Second Scan date 06/07

I called NVC last night just because. A very rude person told me that they received another package on 06/20 (I have not sent anything new). Telling me that the I did not have to send a translation of the birth certificate. I sent both (the Spanish version and the translation). He asked me to send a copy of the Spanish version again. I told him that it just did not make sense. If the translation was not needed, then ignore it and just look at the Spanish version. At the end he got frustrated and even hung up the phone on me.

I just called now again and a very sweet lady attended the phone call. I explained everything to her. She said that I sent the birth certificate with out cover sheet. And I asked her, how do you know that it belongs to me if it does not have a cover sheet? it looks like they contradict themselves.

She put me on hold for 20 minutes and told me that she spoke to the supervisor. She advised me not to send anything again because everything was there and it was not needed.  She said that her supervisor has my file and will look at it. And wait for an email from NVC.

So I guess I could say now that my case is in review. :)

Which specifies what is good to go well as Financial Evidence. For extension you can submit for 4868 as proof.

I sent my documents in 7/8. And USPS notified me that it was delivered on Monday, 7/10.  But I've called NVC, and they've said that they still haven't received it.  Has anybody had to wait almost a week since documents have been delivered for a scan date?

Yeah it usually takes a few days. By Friday or Monday it should be scanned in. Call back and confirm either tomorrow afternoon or Monday.

Give them a call to let them know you did that. In my case it helped to get the process rolling.

It has been 4 weeks since my SD.

I am unemployed and dependent on another person, who is already supporting 7 people, including himself, the 7th person just immigrated and it is becoming tough. I am also having a hard time finding a job myself. I really need to start my life soon and that is only possible if my husband immigrates faster and finds a job here and then supports me.

Is this a legitimate reason to get my case expedited? Also, if the expedite request is denied, does the case take longer to process?
