It identifies your visa category.  For example, spouses of US Citizens would be considered first preference category and those of LPRs are considered second preference category.

EB3 is identified as the third employment preference category:

https://www.uscis.gov/working-united-states/permanent-workers/employment-based-immigration-third-preference-eb-3

So all of EB-1 and EB-2 will be scheduled interview dates ahead of EB-3? So in theory, I could be waiting months for an interview?

@abfar Thank you soo much!! This is really helpful.

Quick question, I see that your scan date was April 5th so it was before the 2016 tax filing deadline. Did you use the 2015 tax info on your I-864 or you (or your sponsor) had already filed the 2016 tax before your scan date and you used that on your I-864.

Our sponsor shared their 2016 tax filing info with us.

VISA CLASS: EW
YOUR CASE IS CURRENTLY AT: NVC
FOREIGN STATE OF CHARGEABILITY:

this mean class EW EB-3

And your status is still AT NVC or in transit ?

The preference category usually applies to visa availability.  I'm not sure how interviews are scheduled but I'm assuming since the case is completed, it's usually first come, first serve basis.

Heloo i wait for same type EB3  visa, so if i had some update i share here no problem i appreciate if you do the same, fingers cross for interview date soon for everyone  who wait so long .

Hi, thank you for updating. I am glad more of us are doing this now. I usually update my information here, as well as on the  @JBMG spreadsheet. I hope you get your interview soon. Best of luck. I will most likely write an in depth review with details specific to EB-3 case in a new forum once I have completed the whole process so that those starting their journey will have a better understanding from start to finish, and how long it will take.

I would highly recommend you to complete your VJ timeline.. Once you do that, you can find cases which are similar to yours giving you a better idea of when you'll receive your interview date..

Everyone should be completing it.. it's a useful tool.. Yeah, not as detailed as our spreadsheet but it helps in MANY ways.. You can find many cases that never come onto this forum or are on our spreadsheet..

I have updated it the best I can but my attorney has all of the paperwork so I am not aware of any dates. He's mainly corresponding with my sponsor.

The same thing with us. We are also with attorney and all of the documents are in his office.

But if you had filled the DS-260 you have to had the  NVC case number, Benf. ID and Invoice ID, or your attorney filled it?

I guess that you are aware with this way to check your status  https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx .

About the interview ...as i read .... it is up to 11 weeks for you to get interview date. When did you submit the DS-260 and when did you send the documents to the NVC

Sorry for asking so many questions but we are not many with EB visa type cases.

O, and congrats for the CC,

we haven't received one yet :(:)

He also filed DS-260 so I don't even have that information. I have case number so I can use the tracker but I was going to login to see what it says and for that I need receipt number. NVC received all docs and payments May 5th and I received CC June 28th.
