Friends

What is your examples for filing "Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years". No much space there. If my fiance will write :

1/ I visited tmy fiancee in Israel 3-13.5.2017

2/ My fiancee visited me in USA 18-30/5/2017

Is it enough? Or to write that we have got to know in OKcupid in september 2016, i visited her in Israel ...., she visited me in USA ....

I am afraid, that USCIS will ask if OKcupid is IMBRA and so on. Or better not to write about OKcupid?

Thanks a lot for help

The question specifically asks about in-person meetings. Stick to the first sample answer.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

I met my wife on OKCupid also.   For that form we put "See attached sheet (I-129F: Supplement Part 2, Question 34.A)" in spot 34.a where it asks for the circumstances under which you met.  Then for the attachment we wrote "I, (my name) do hereby state that I met in person (her name), in person. We met on 3 occasions.  Our first meeting was December 23, 2014 through January 5, 2015 while I was visiting my parents in (somewhere USA).  The second occasion was in (somewhere USA) from February 12, 2015 through February 24, 2015.  The third occasion was in (somewhere USA) from June 4, 2015 through September 2, 2015. "    We never mentioned anything about first meeting on OKCupid in the i129 form or supporting documents.  We didn't get an RFE anywhere in the process.

Its totally fine to mention Okcupid. Me and my fiance also met on okcupid and then we met in person. As far the comcern about IMBRA. Its not. You can also get a confirmation from okcupid by emailing them, it takes 3, 4 days to get a reply from okcupid. But nothing to worry about. Because if you try to hide it and CO find out that would be a lie and can jeopardize your case.

So stick with the truth and for extra safety, get the confirmation from okcupid about IMBRA by emailing them.

Attach an extra sheet and mention it at the petiton form. You have to write you whole love story with dates where and when you guys met online, in person, dates. Also attach the passport stamps and flight booking, tickets as proof.

as they are asking meeting in person, dont mention okcupid avoid complication adding pages to show that isnt an IMBRA.

be safe and talk about your person meeting.

Thats absolutely the right thing to do, and include proof of the trips such as airline tickets/boarding passes, and some photos if you have them to prove you were actually together when he/you were in the same country.

They didn't ask about the origin of the relationship, and OK Cupid has NOTHING to do with the couple meeting IN PERSON within the last two years, so it isn't lying in any way.  Stick to what USCIS asked for specifically.

Yes, you are right, Dont do what they dont ask

Like others have mentioned, you will prob want to explicitly state and prove it's not an IMBRA. I have seen more than one person get RFEs because of that.

I met my fiancee on a website. I mentioned that and that it was not an IMBRA. Then I went on to describe how we met in person several times. I kept the whole thing concise and on one page.

Though the wording has changed somewhat on the latest I-129 petition and the instruction paper, they are still specifically asking about meeting in person. Not when the first contact was made, but when you were in each others physical presence.

The whole IMB section does not come into play until the next paragraph. If you feel that the service you used for the initial contact is an IMB, than state so in the next paragraph.

another OkCupid couple here! o/

I had the same concern before, but I'm sure it's well known that online dating is on the rise.

and that it doesn't constitute as a marriage broker. I agree, adding it is fine but if it's not asked for/required, don't. Focus on the physical times you've met with proof,

I'm thinking of saying during the interview option if it comes up that we first talked on OKC, met in person after a week and started dating, just to be honest.

I'm sure you'll be fine!
