It's not confusing at all.  Your legal and lawful marriage date is your marriage date, for all immigration related proceedings, and your legal marriage certificate is the documentation needed by USCIS as evidence you are "married".

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

And now I have a marriage certificate but the date is recent ,not the one with traditional marriage date. It's a huge confusing. 

Just be frank and tell them what happened.

I put my recent marriage date according to the certificate in my application.

The forms you are filing now are a "petition" for alien relative.  When the petition is approved, the foreign spouse will then apply for a visa.
