Hi VJers

SO HAPPY cause we were approved today after nearly a year of waiting! NOA1 date was 07/11/2016 and approval date is 06/26/2017 at VSC. Quick question: for those approved, how long did it take to receive your 10 year GC? The letter says within 60 days, but we are eligible to apply for N-400 in a few days and wanted to do so ASAP

Is it necessary to have the 10-year GC before applying for N-400? I thought you could apply for citizenship even with ROC pending and that doing so can even speed up the ROC.

You can file the N400 while you have a pending ROC.  My understanding is that the applications will be combined, and the ROC will be processed first or at the same time as the N400.

To the OP, Congrats!  Good to see July apps being processed, only five more months until they get to December 2016.

Wouldn't surprise me that if you have been approved for ROC you need to add a copy of the card with the N-400 application.

If you have it I believe you would, but I have read several stories of people filing the N400 with a pending I751 so they wouldn't have had the 10yr card yet.

Yes of course you can file for N-400 while having a pending i-751. But what I was trying to say is that OP might actually have to wait for the physical card since s/he has now been approved before sending off the N-400 package.
