So the lack of an incumbent had nothing to do with the results.

Absolutely, people are discrimitory as to their media sources and all others are not to be trusted.  We get mocking of the media all the time by both sides.  No one has the moral high ground.

well that was my whole point from the get go. a poll asking 'do you trust media' is too broad to really say anything concrete.

Or it means that people are waking up to the fact that the media is not to be trusted outright and they need to be questioned as to their agendas particularly when it comes to political stories.

i don't think that's brand new information. i also don't think that the majority of people are less trusting of sources they already trusted, again to what i was saying originally. just because trump wants to dictate what is real and fake doesn't equate to a 'aha!' moment for the country as far as i'm concerned.

I think there are a lot of people that bought whatever is spewed from the mainstream media without checking sources or agenda.  If this changes, and the media is taken off their pedestal, it is better for all.

2016 62%

2014 66%

2012 65%

2008 69% (The year Obama won his first election by record numbers, Dems swept the House and Senate, this alone shows how Republican the district is because Bush had awful approval ratings)

2006 72%

2002 80%

And Handel only won because she was promising voters the a world of lies.  A friend of mine produced some of her TV ads and he said the woman is diva crazy, and no different than Trump, a megalomaniac, who fancies herself more important than anyone else in the room. She's a piece of work.

They ran a disgraceful ad here in Georgia against Ossoff linking him to the shooting on Rep Scalise. It was despicable. Endorsing and applauding shooting Republicans.

I love how these people are so afraid of Nancy Pelosi, enough to use her name in an election on the other side of the country.

It appears to be a tactic the RNC has been using for a while now and it has worked. By putting Pelosi in these ads in very Republican areas, voters will immediately think California. So anyone who is considering voting for the Democratic candidate will be deterred. So they aren't voting for Handel they are just voting against Ossoff/Pelosi.

 

However one thing Republicans should be concerned about is in all of these special elections they have won, they've not won any of these races convincingly in strong Republican areas. If you took an average of these results, it'll show a 7 point swing toward the Democratic candidate and if that happens across the country in 2018 midterms the Democrats will take back the House.

As I heard from friends who live in that district in Georgia, Ossof ran a clean campaign, and won many republican voters as a result. He realized he would be in a better position, win or lose, by playing clean, while it seems that Handel's only option was to run smut, since she didn't have anything on him. I have noticed too that some of the red areas in the country are less strongly red than they used to be.
