My fionce has an interview on the 2nd of may, her medical is on the 30th of april. The situation we have is this, the other day she had really bad pain in her stomach near her belly area, she went to the doctor and it was diagnosed that she needs her appendix removed ASAP. The procedure is pretty simple and fast and is called a laproscopic surgery, although she will have 3 small inceisions and a few stictchs afterwards. We have went ahead and schuled a surgery about a week before her medical exam. The doctors say that she will recover from this within 3-4 days. My question to all my fellow vjers is that will this be a problem during her medical exam, that she has just had a surgery. Me and my fionce are both stressed out about this issue even though i know we should probably be more stressed about the interview and her health. Someone please share some insight.

She should bring records to show the reason for the surgery, if asked. Otherwise the only problem I can see would be physical. She is likely to still have some pain.

I had the very same surgery years ago. She will be in pain for at least 1-2 weeks and won't be able to lift anything. As long as you provide the paperwork from the surgery it should'nt be too much of a problem. And tell her not to worry, the scars teeny tiny and the surgery is cake! She may want at least 2 days of sleep afterwards!

It's appendicitis. They're not going to deny a visa because of that. But it needs to be taken care of as soon as possible.

Please don't worry!!!! I know that during the visa process one tends to get stressed out about everything, I do the same. As we say in my country "Fear has got big eyes".

She won't have any problems at the interview or at the medical. Nobody there is interested in past surgeries like that. As far as I know they are only interested in socially dangerous diseases like tuberculosis. Laparoscopic appendectomy is not a very major surgery, she will be totally healthy in some time. You still have 2 weeks until the medical, in my opinion that's a lot of time. to Have her bring a note from her doctor to the interview, just in case she will still have some abnormal blood count as a consequence of the surgery, they will understand.

I agree with the others, it will be absolutely no problem at all, so please don’t stress about it! Have her bring the medical records with her just in case they ask. The medical for the visa interview is only looking for serious medical conditions (not easily curable) and contagious diseases.

Best wishes for your fiancée’s operation, quick recovery and successful visa interview!!:thumbs:

Tell your fiance to get a Medical certificate from the Attending Physician- stating the Diagnosis and the Surgery done (Laparoscopic Appendectomy). During her Medical exam, Panel Physicians may ask for this certificate and they will just note the scars on her abdomen on their PE findings. Nothing to worry about. Have a speedy recovery. There could be an on and off pain from the incision/surgical site, any analgesics/pain relievers will do.
