Once you are no longer resident in the UK you are not ment to use the NHS... some places will still treat you but other wont... so make sure you take out travel/medical insurance if you plan to go back on vacation... oh and it done mater whether you have been non-resident for 3 week or 3 years... if you are not resident in the UK then no NHS for you...

We didn't know about this and we were wondering what to do about the taxes there when Neil got his bank statement from Lloyds and it was talking about them. Is there a website where we can get these forms?

I found the forms online just incase anyone else wants them. Thanks mags they came up first thing when I searched them.

No problem. I googled them myself wayyyyyy back.

Just remember they get sent to the office listed on your P60. They say it takes about 2 months but in reality it probably takes a good 4.

Well ####### Neil only has his p45...is the p60 what they give you when you start your job?

P60 is the form you get every April, it lists your earnings and deductions for that tax year. Your P45 is what you get when you leave a job, this has how much you paid whilst in that employ up to the point you leave.

The P45 is what they ask for when you send in a P85.

Can I apply for a P85 if I went to the UK for 6 months last year on a work permit and worked steadily for about three? It wouldn't be a great deal, but I have an NI number and definitely paid quite a bit of tax per week...

I would definitely fill out the form if I were you. If you were paying tax from the start (not just national insurance) and didn't reach your allowance, I would guess that you're owed some money. Plus it doesn't hurt to try. :) Do you have a P45 and P60? The P45 should have been given to you by your employer when you left. But I guess you wouldn't have a P60 since I don't have mine yet for that year and I'm still living here. As far as I'm aware, it's the P45 that you have to submit. I just heard some people talking about being asked for their P60 as well.

Hi, guys! Thought I'd revive this topic!

I have worked in London 3 months. I filed my P85 together with P45 parts 2 and 3 on Tuesday, 19 August. HRMC got it on Wednesday.

Was wondering how long will it take before I get my taxes back?

Do they send you any letters? Cos I won't be living at my UK address anymore.

Thank you!

Find their phone number and call them up and ask. If you get a refund they have to send it somewhere. It isn't going to happen by Sunday or whenever you leave.
