St.James-One,

They took our most recent tax return, which was later than the three that we had submitted.  Casually, they asked my wife for a mortgage document, which was not on the list - we could have brought it easily, but they didn't require it: we were approved the next day.

Jerry

Thanks for the info.

Guys, it may seem that the the interview day for N400 will not come trust me it will. I have spent a good part of the last 18 months frustrated but finally I received my interview day this week. In case it helps someone, I am going to post my timeline and my experience.

Paper n400 application submitted Jan 17, 2017 ( yes that is true. It was long time ago)

- Fingerprint: Feb, 15 2017

- In-line for interview since March, 3 2017

- Fingerprint again - June, 18 2018 (the first one expired after more than 18 months wait)

- Online status changed to in-line for interview on June 18, 2018

- Finally online status changed to interview scheduled on June 28, 2018

- Received interview letter on the main on July, 2 2018

- Interview scheduled to August, 5 2018

This is it. Well I tried info pass, case inquiry, phone inquiry, Ombudsman several times. From my experience, it was not helpful at all. I hate to say it, but the only thing that seems to work is to distract yourself so that you will not have to lose your mind waiting for the interview day to arrive. Good luck guys, hope your time will come soon.

BTW, field office Montgomery Alabama.

Peace out.

Congratulations, you two.
I officially passed a year of waiting two weeks ago.
Good luck on the interview.
It would be nice if you two can share the interview experience after the interview.

I had my interview today and was recommended for approval. Below is my experience:

My interview was scheduled for 1.30 PM. I got there 12.58 PM and got through security pretty quick because nobody was in line. After security, there were some people already seated and waiting. I asked one of them if I had to get a time ticket/number somewhere and the guy said no. I sat for less than 2 min before an officer called me in. He didn't try to initiate any conversation so I asked him how his day was going once we got to his office. Next, he asked me for my green card, then he took two finger prints (I guess to confirm identity). Then he asked me to read and write sentences about Columbus Day. I can't remember all my civics questions but I'll give it a shot:

- If Pres and V.P can't serve, who's next?

- Senators are elected for how many yrs?

- Declaration of Independence

- One branch of government

- What does the President's cabinet do?

**Can't remember the last one

Then he started reviewing my form. He asked for my social security number, phone number and current address (he wrote the new address on the form). Then, some "No" questions. I had a speed ticket of $225 which I disclosed on the form with documentation. He asked if I had the speed ticket with me and I told him that it was less than $500. He said ok but he just got my folder today so he has not been able to go through it. He shuffled through my application and found it. Then we moved on to the rest of the "No" questions. That was it! He asked me to sign a few things and verify that the info they want to put on my certificate was correct. He said congrats and printed out the Interview Result form (marked that I passed and that I'm recommended). He said the oath notice will come for Birmingham or Montgomery (whichever is sooner). The officer was cool but didn't do any extra talking. I was out of the building by 1.24 PM (before my appointment time). It's the quickest I've gotten in and out of a government building.

Good luck guys!

Congratulations for your Interview after a very long wait and thank you for sharing your experience. Since we are in the same boat, I would like to ask you few things:

1.  How was your Info-pass appointment ? I am thinking to make an appointment because I am at 15 months waiting in line for Interview. What questions did you specifically ask ??

2. what do you think helped them to make quick status change after 2nd fingerprints ?? how were you notified about second fingerprints ?

I appreciate your response and good luck with your interview.

Thank you.

1. Infopass in my case was useless. I tried it twice and it did not help at all. All they say in both appointment was "my case is with in the normal processing time". They did not even try to look it up in their system.

2. I think the second fingerprint was requested after they opened my file and realize that my fingerprint has been expired. Then they requested a second biometrics. As soon as the backdrop cleared, they scheduled the interview. But all this is my guess. There is no way to know.

Good luck.

To those interested in the Montgomery field office ...

My wife had her interview today and the officer recommended approval of her N0400/citizenship.  They are scheduling oath ceremonies about a month after the citizenship interview.  I spoke to one of the officers: they hold ceremonies on two different days during the week, twice a day.  About 100-120 new citizens pass through these ceremonies a week.  The office is getting experienced and faster.

Yours truly,

Jerry

Did they schedule her oath ceremony as yet?

SunShineSam,

They scheduled her oath ceremony the next day: it is this coming Thursday, July 19nth.  19 years, start to finish.

Jerry

That's nice that they scheduled her oath the following day. I had my interview on Monday and have not heard back from them (no notifications, case status change or letter in the mail).
