To those interested in the Montgomery field office ...

My wife had her interview today and the officer recommended approval of her N0400/citizenship.  They are scheduling oath ceremonies about a month after the citizenship interview.  I spoke to one of the officers: they hold ceremonies on two different days during the week, twice a day.  About 100-120 new citizens pass through these ceremonies a week.  The office is getting experienced and faster.

Yours truly,

Jerry

Thanks  for the helpful information.

Congratulations .. the wait game is finally over for you guys.

Do you know if there is a difference between filing online application vs paper based application in terms of processing time ??

Hennessyvsop,

It took us exactly one year from filing to the oath ceremony.  I was watching the N-400 June 2017  to September 2017 Filer forums carefully, and the on-line filers were noticeably faster.

I filed online, and I'm still waiting for the interview day. It will be a year for me at the end of this month.
So, I think it doesn't matter filing online or paper for Montgomery AL office, I guess. But some office does have big difference. Again, it all depends on your local office and your case.

Malik, it is in Montgomery.  They are scheduling 4 oath ceremonies weekly in Montgomery, each with about 25-30 people.  The Birmingham ceremonies are quarterly.

For those who recently had interviews at the Montgomery field office for N-400 based on marriage to USC, what specific original documents did they ask to see? I have read the notice and seen all the requested documents but I just wanted to know what original documents they actually asked to see during your interviews. Thanks.

......and congrats to everyone who recently had some movement on their cases.

St.James-One,

They took our most recent tax return, which was later than the three that we had submitted.  Casually, they asked my wife for a mortgage document, which was not on the list - we could have brought it easily, but they didn't require it: we were approved the next day.
