Did you try reaching out  to the consulate? Here on VJ people are accompanying their spouses at Delhi Consulate.. Mumbai should allow too.. but If I were you, I would call first. Your US passport should suffice I guess...

When is your interview? Good Luck on it.

I am also at Mumbai.  Yes u can accompany. Most can go to the window with the spouse.  Others are asked to sit in the front row.. near the window area.  U can hear everything being said, and if they want any info from u, they will then call u to the window with your spouse.  Hope this helps😚

really?? @PP_2016 has her interview in Delhi tomorrow and she is accompanied by her husband!

Yes my husband is going with me with his passport. There will be no problem.

Although I am sure they will allow my husband to be with me throughout the process, but in case they don't, I would be able to manage it on my own. I understand that if they don't see my husband with me, they won't ask questions that would only apply to him and I may not know the answer...if at all they ask, I can always say 'I don't know'. Actually it's a better answer than to try to guess and give random answers. The COs meet and see way more cases than we can even imagine. Spouses accompanying you is not the criteria for them to approve VISA. The moment they see you they know how true it the story. Their Experience!!!!

@Decimater - aggree with @PP_2016. Accompanying your spouse is not a criteria. That is specified on the interview letter as well. The key is to be honest with your answers... they are best at analyzing every case. Good Luck on the interview!

We had gotten that before we got it from the passport office. I just told my husband to carry it just in case.

Just a FYI about laminated documents. Since I was really stressed over the fact that my husband's birth certificate and our marriage certificate is laminated and @PP_2016 got a very vague answer from the US consulate in New Delhi I called NVC to see what they have to say. The rep told me that there is no policy set by the NVC regarding laminated documents and since but since 99% of the people get their documents laminated in India they are ACCEPTED.
