Document translation.

So my wife has gotten her police record or no criminal record document. 

As far as the translation. She is a professional translator/interpreter. 

 

Can she translate that document her self as long as she has the statement that she is competent and the translation is accurate accompanied by her signature?

I raised a similar question awhile ago.  But in my case I'm the sponsor and my fiancee is the foreigner (I am an immigrant and came from same country as my fiancee).  I thought I could do the translation myself because I'm influent both English and the other language.  I came to a local Visa center in MA and asked a gentleman who worked there.  He told me I was not allowed to do the translation myself.

 

In your case I guess it's better your wife pay some professional in her country to do the translation.

Even if she is a professional translator, I think it would be better to get the services of a third party so that it wouldn't raise any problem

The only translation that will be accepted by the Consulate is one that issued by the Notarial Office of jurisdiction (公证处 - gong zheng chu).

Is there anything in Chinese from the embassy site that explains that the translation needs those certified statements "this translation is accurate and  the translator competent with signature" My wife is in Heyuan and the civil office people are always giving a hard time about meeting the requirements and even getting these documents. Like saying we're making stuff up and they never heard of such things and all kinds of #######.

The Consulate has nothing to do with it - these are official Chinese documents generated for use overseas. They are NOT done to the consulate's specification.

 

Most of the documents needed can be obtained from one of China's Notarial Offices (Gong Zheng Chu, or 公证处֤֤). All Chinese documentation to be used abroad is processed through the notary offices and issued in the form of notarial certificates (known as "white books"). Notarial offices are located in all major Chinese cities and in rural county seats

The documents required are the GongZhengShu (公证书֤) ֤֤ or Notarial Certificate.

I have two white books from the gong zheng chu 公证处 , for birth certificate and marriage certificate but the question is that in the translation section it states that the translation is accurate but not that the translator is competent as specified and the signature and seal is only on the Chinese version in the first half of the books and not on the translation.

 

Everything I've seen states those requirements so we're trying to figure out if my wife needs to take them back and get stamps and signatures on the translation. We got them done while I was there last year.

 

The guy there is quite difficult and my wife pretty certain that they won't do that. Based on the drama encountered there so far.

This is how the 公证处 did our marriage certificate and birth certificate in our white books. Is that acceptable? It doesn't say exactly as the NVC, Embassy or USCIS specifies. The signature and stamp is only on the Chinese original part.

The Civil office also said they don't have jurisdiction to tell the translation department to put those statements he way we are asking for as specified by US government.

Again - the white books are done to a Chinese and international standard - NOT as specified by the consulate.

 

If the booklet is altered to YOUR (or even the consulate's standard), it's liable to be rejected BY the consulate.

 

They KNOW what to expect.

Ok got it thanks.. All of this conflicting info between consulate, NVC and USCIS is absolutely ridiculous😞.
