Hi- We are older couple, US male citizen (60) marrying Norwegian woman (54). We filed for K-1 in May, have been given a time frame of 5-6 months, so should have confirmation of that by early fall and will officially marry then. Question is should we also be filing any other forms now so the Norwegian finance can accept a job in US as soon as possible after marriage is official?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You shall apply for "change of status" (I-485) right after your marriage. See >> http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

The "change of status" application shall also include form "I-765" for Employment Authorization for your (then) wife to be able to work in the US.

Hope this helps. Good luck!!

hi

nope , she can't work and there is no form to start working once she enters and you marry. that's the downside of the K1, if she needed to work immediately, you should have married and file for CR1 spousal visa, it takes longer, but she will enter with her visa

with a k1 visa, she enters, you marry and file adjustment of status which includes the i765 EAD work permit. it can take 3 to 4 months to get the work permit, so she won't be working for several months

I wouldn't fill out any AOS forms just yet as there might be newer versions by the time you actually file for AOS. But it's a very good idea to start looking into it, start researching every step you need to take once your fiancée lands in the US.
