It's called Inbound Immigrant Insurance, Google it.

Excuse me? Why would I have to Google anything when my husband had no problem getting insurance as a green card holder?

Especially when it is not ACA compliant.

lol lots of hysterical people here when just trying to provide some useful information.  Health care is a sensitive issue for sure.  New immigrants, with green cards, over the age of 65, who have never worked here have limited options.  That was the discussion.  They are not eligible for Medicare so must find insurance on the open market which has enrollment periods which cause gaps in coverage, or they can buy insurance such as the one mentioned to cover themselves from catastrophic medical issues for the short term.  Good luck to you all.

Unfortunately the information was wrong.

Not true. My husband just became a citizen a few months ago and he never had a problem getting health insurance as a perm resident.

What state did he get insurance? I guess other states are different......

I think each state does things differently. My mother, a GC holder, had  Medicaid when she resided  in Washington, DC. She Moved to Texas in February to be closer to us and she no longer qualify for it. Thankfully her new job here has great benefits.
