Health Insurance (k1 visa)

Hi, I know this information is out there it is just scattered across different forums. 

 

I moved to Orlando, FL on May 30th 2017 on a K1 visa, I have already gotten married and will be filling for AOS this week. My question is where do I stand with health insurance?

My husband does not have insurance at the moment, we have to wait until November to enrol onto his work insurance. I understand he will have to pay a fine. 

 

Are temporary insurances worth it, they don't appear to be ACA accredited? Am i entitled to Obamacare? Will i also have to pay a fine if I do not get insured until November? since I will only be working for for a few months before filing taxes.

When did you get married? Your husband should be able to add you since it's a "life changing event". Typically it has to be within 30 days of your marriage. Have him check with his HR Dept.

 

EDIT: sorry, i just re-read and saw that he doesn't have insurance now. I couldn't delete my original response

ACA = Obamacare

I added my fiance to my ACA plan easily. I just told them my situation and they told me what to do. You should contact your state exchange and ask them. They will want his/her passport info and I94. My exchange here in CA asked for proof that my fiance had canceled her medical plan in Indonesia which we were able to provide.After I submitted that to the exchange we got approved in about a week or so.
