Once again, Trump is at it again.  So he wants to end the DV lottery and the family visa program.  Does it ever end with this guy? Makes me not want to be here anymore.

If anything, the massive delays creeping more and more into I-129F processing might be indicative of the first wave of this new trend. I've also heard that more and more RFEs are being given, so presumably USCIS is less likely to let minor things fly. I mean, could the delays be coincidence? Maybe. But honestly, I doubt it. There's not a lot of love for immigrants politically right now, and I doubt it'll get any better. And while Department of State operates under different administrative platforms than USCIS, I'm sure their orders aren't much different. Delay and deny seems to be increasingly common, particularly for high-fraud countries. Fingers crossed we'll all make it out with minimal frustration.

I've said it before, here and elsewhere, that right now isn't a great time to be an immigrant - black, white, man, woman. Not until Trump is out of office will I begin to breathe easier, both because he's an imbecile of the highest order, and that I find it extremely disappointing that a thin minority of Americans thought it would be a good idea to put someone like him in charge in the first place.

It's vague statistics. I'd like to see statistics from each foreign country. I bet they are being harder on anyone who isn't white. I don't think countries like England or Canada statistics specifically would drop.

@Dee elle. Our son has applied for us pd 2nd June @ Nebraska service centre. We are still waiting for our noa2. I have been hearing a lot about the raise act. Just want Your opinion.  Do you think our petition can be at risk? It' scaring  me if there will be any major changes and if our application will be affected.

DACA is now in place again, and anyone who used to have it can file for a renewal of their EAD. 

 

This may be short-lived, however, since the administration is almost certain to appeal to the Ninth Circuit, and if they lose there will probably further appeal to the Supreme Court on an emergency basis.

I feel for the Dreamers being jerked around like this. It's just a "bargaining chip" for him unfortunately.

Trump's legacy will definitely be around immigration. I can't see any other set of policies that even remotely rises up to the amount of rhetoric and action that Trump and his administration have spent on immigration.  Not that we didn't know this was coming as it was a centerpiece of his campaign for election. I hesitate to call it immigration reform because his actions have been such a hodge podge. His direction could probably more aptly be name immigration disruption. Should be interesting how the voting public reacts to all of this over the next couple of national elections.

Based on what the article says and what people are reporting here on VJ, I gather this is mostly due to a slow down on processing applications, however, denials are probably slightly up too.

I know this article is a couple days old but it makes me worried for when I travel. I know that they search US citizens as well. They don't mentioned here if this applies to US citizens by birth too. Has anybody any advise on what to do when traveling? Anyone with experience?

Yes, your 4th amendment rights do not apply at borders and within a certain distance inside them for national security purposes the same way, even as a USC by birth.  The  Supreme Court has ruled this is acceptable under the special needs doctrine.

I have absolutely nothing to hide but I'd like my privacy protected. Is there something I can do?
