Really? Trump was endorsed by David Duke, a former Grand Wizard of the KKK. Duke said Trump's victory was "one of the most exciting nights of my life".

 

There's a reason why a great deal of white supremacists, racists, and other deplorables were openly celebrating Trump's victory last year. And that isn't to say every single person who supports Trump is racist, but it's a delusion to think that a significant portion of his support doesn't come from the extreme right-wing fringe and now think this is their time to shine.

A significan portion of his support comes from ignored rural America.  If you want to start putting labels on them that don't accurately describe their views, I don't think that is fair.

 

White nationalists also threw their support behind Ron Paul pretty firmly and it hurt his campaign.  What David Duke does or does not do should be of no concern to the American public.  He's a pathetic shell of a man who believes firmly in the concept of a "Zionist Occupied Government".  One should pay no more attention to who he endorses than anybody else off the street.  Even mentioning him gives him a value that he does not even hold amongst the extreme right.

I don't dispute Trump supporters come from many varied walks of life. It just happens to be that racists and white supremacists see him as "their man", and that's hardly a good thing when you're talking about the President of the United States.

 

It gives rise to proposed policies exactly as we're discussing here right now. Pro-white, pro-English speakers, anti-foreigner. The stated goal is to reduce immigration, not to make it fairer or better or anything else. They want less foreigners coming here. Period.

They've always been emboldened and supported political candidates (Strom Thurmond?), you just are hearing them more because of the internet.   In general, that whole movement is dying.

 

I really, honestly, and truly do not see anything pro-white about reducing immigration and as I previously stated, there are billions of non-white English speaks in the world.    America is already a diverse nation and just leaving it settle with absolutely no immigration, would lead to an ever decreasing white population.  It is an inevitability.

 

As a person who lives near a refugee resettlement area, I can tell you that not addressing immigration is going to create further issues.  Past administrations have not taken proper care and consideration over how they are assigning refugees to agencies like LSS and what LSS is then doing with them.  Why are they placing a bunch of people from one specific ethnic group into very small areas without dispersal into a variety of towns and communities?   Refugee ghetto-ization and alienation of communities is the result.  We do really need to take a step back and think about what we are doing as a country before we end up with deeper divides.  Personally, I think slowing immigration will give communities time to integrate and that should really be our end goal.

My assumption is that they put most of them in less-populated areas to control over-crowding in the cities.

You must have misunderstood, they are choosing the largest cities in some states and placing them there.  Unfortunately, some of those cities are quite small in comparison to a New York or a LA.  But, by doing that they are allowing, if not encouraging, new arrivals to create separate parallel societies.  It is creating tensions.

Things are going to change in these proposals. Again, to be clear, the most likely outcome is nothing changes. But there could be a lot of horse-trading in Congress to get something passed, such as how tax reductions for the rich healthcare reform almost passed Congress.

 Been seeing scary topics about trumps immigration proposals. Will any of this effect immigrants in the middle of removal of conditions, AOS, or pending citizenship? My husband is in the middle of ROC and I'm terrified of trumps new policies potentially jeopardizing our future together.
