How would the proposed bill by Perdue and Cotton, if it became law, affect the E2 visa for example and other visas? Would it make it more difficult to get? Or wouldn't it affect it at all?

Honestly, as much as I do not support most of what Trump says or does...I never understood the whole point of the creation of the Diversity Visa program in the first place either.

 

It always made me think of someone just flying to remote countries and handing out free GCs like they are prizes out of a CrackerJack box...and it's extremely biased as well as insulting and unfair to the thousands upon thousands of other GC applicants who have to do it "the other way" (for lack of a better term).  

 

Getting rid of the DV program would probably help pick up speed in other types of application processing too, I would imagine, across the board.

Likely other members of family like siblings and possibly parents may get removed. But spouses and minor children will definitely be OK.

are spouses of U.S citizens still allowed to apply for a green card? This news has made me worried.

Agreed...I mean look how much trouble and stress we have to go through to finally be with our loved ones. But while we're crossing our fingers and biting our nails, others have it as easy as winning a lottery ticket!

I agree. Maybe it was a good idea for some reason when it started out but whatever purpose it served then it doesn't serve any purpose now. Totally unnecessary and I agree 100% with you.

See now this, though?  I don't think biological siblings of a US citizen or PR should be termed as EXTENDED family....that's immediate family, in my opinion. Same with biological children.

If it's a case of sister-in-law or brother-in-law then yeah, that's different.

Focus is on special skilled workers .....so I guess that means the special skilled workers end up working the service and agriculture industry as well
OR...Americans will have to start making beds in hotels and bringing in the harvest.
What will we do with only high skilled workers and nobody who wants to come over for the abundance of "lower" jobs ?
Somebody has to do them. 
As usual this is not thought through.
He riles his base up with saying that immigrants come here and go on welfare, not knowing there is a law prohibiting that.
If they try to then enforce the laws. Simple.
I am sure lots of little "goodies" will be packed in the bill that will cause an uproar a la Trump style.
There was a documentary on how BMW, Mercedes among other companies who receive millions in tax breaks to employ Americans
are purposely hiring thousands of East European workers for 1/3 to 1/2 the pay.
This is an intrinsic problem and just limiting immigration to highly skilled workers is causing other problems.
Balance is the key, along with enforcing already existing laws.

If Cotton and Perdue can get GOP leadership to bring the legislation up for a vote, supporters will need to cobble together 60 senators, including at least eight Democrats or independents, to agree to start debate on the legislation.
