I am positive that he will try to broaden his 'ban' and widen it to other countries.

My bet is that countries on the African continent will be picked on next.

It would appeal to his alt right base. I even heard him say (not read it in fake news) I emphasize, I heard him say he should
be vetting the French and Germans extremely because of the refugees there. Who will be next in line ?

That made me almost get whiplash from whipping my head towards his whiny voice.

~Moved to General Immigration Discussion~

Honestly in my own personal opinion, this is a measure that was needed. Any sort of immigration needs to have proper scrutiny applied and make sure it the individual(s) are thoroughly vetted. Look at what is happening in Europe right now, a lot of that has had to do with their open border like policies. Not everything happened from a 'first generation' immigrant family, sometimes it actually was the second generation that caused trouble/violence. No system is perfect and there is no way to predict the future naturally; but something needed to change.

And by the way, you only get distracted by tweets if you bother to pay attention to them. Otherwise it generally is just a lot of President bashing done by the media from what I see.

Yep.....let's look at it.

My family immigrated here in 1820. Pretty sure we haven't been trouble makers since then.

You will likely go through some AP, we were in AP for 16 months and then refused, had to re file. Now stuck in background checks in AOS which we filed in May 2015, over 2 years ago. I understand how you feel.

I am not sure if Trump will go after relatives and the SC would approve it.  That's just my opinion.  If so, i might look for a job outside the USA and live with my wife for 4 years until Donny Gorilla leaves

I have complained so much to my fiance about the injustice of waiting so long he is looking for places to live for me and my two huge dogs....incredibly kind and generous of him.....but I would have to close my business  (that employs 18 people....)

Huge rock and very hard place......

The latest news report indicate that fiancees are not considered to have bona fide relationship status and as such will be included in the ban. For 90 days at least, and the way I read the ban's text, possibly after that as well.

I guess I can see why fiancee is not considered 'bona fide'. There is not legally binding relationship and the risk for fraudulent relationships is higher than with other visa categories. Still, the news is concerning to me. I feel bad for anyone already in the process of bringing a grandparent, fiancee, ect from one of the affected countries. At least 90 days of additional processing time. I am lucky that the country my fiance is from (Morocco) is not on the banned list, however it wouldn't surprise me if it had made the list or the possibility that it could be added at a later date. I wonder what the SCOUTUS will decide come October...

Interesting that these are all family categories that can't be petitioned... except for fiancees.

If the above is true I find it very interesting that the Hawaii Attorney General was on the news this morning overjoyed telling everyone how happy he was about the following:

They pointed to the case of Ismail Elshikh, the imam of the Muslim Association of Hawaii, whose mother-in-law’s application for an immigrant visa was still being processed. Under the new executive order, attorneys for Hawaii said, Elshikh feared that his mother-in-law, a Syrian national, would ultimately be banned from entering the United States.

“Dr. Elshikh certainly has standing in this case. He, along with all of the Muslim residents in Hawaii, face higher hurdles to see family because of religious faith,” lawyer Colleen Roh Sinzdak said at a hearing Wednesday. “It is not merely a harm to the Muslim residents of the state of Hawaii, but also is a harm to the United States as a whole and is against the First Amendment itself.”  Elshikh is a U.S. citizen of Egyptian descent who has been a resident of Hawaii for over a decade. His wife is of Syrian descent and is also a resident of Hawaii.

Of course our attorney general was one of the idiots that wasted my tax dollars representing Elshikh in suing the Federal Government to stop the ban.  But now our attorney general is elated that Elshikh will be allowed to bring his mother-in-law to the US.  I would agree that fiances are probable not considered to be "family members" because they are not married yet.

Good news to fiancé visa applicants, apparently late on Thursday the administration reversed their decision on fiancé visas, and they are now exempt from the ban.
