I don't know anyone who's been shot because of crime or terrorism. I know some who have been shot overseas in war, but that doesn't exactly count.

Honestly in my own personal opinion, this is a measure that was needed. Any sort of immigration needs to have proper scrutiny applied and make sure it the individual(s) are thoroughly vetted. Look at what is happening in Europe right now, a lot of that has had to do with their open border like policies. Not everything happened from a 'first generation' immigrant family, sometimes it actually was the second generation that caused trouble/violence. No system is perfect and there is no way to predict the future naturally; but something needed to change. 

 

And by the way, you only get distracted by tweets if you bother to pay attention to them. Otherwise it generally is just a lot of President bashing done by the media from what I see.

Europe also has land borders to many of those countries... there is open borders between many EU countries but not towards the outer perimeter... US has some experience with problems with land borders and ppl coming illegally as well.

If there were wars in Mexico and its neighboring countries to the south.. would the US not take ppl running from death?

-Freedom to see a doctor without paying even when temporarily out of a job..

-Freedom to make decisions about my own body as a woman (smth that this country is currently fighting)

-freedom to love whom I would choose

-freedom to wear what I want when I want without being sent home from school or sent away from a "public place"

-freedom to 6 weeks vacation per year

I can go on for ever... socialism isn't a "bad word"

And No... I'm not moving back  (atleast not right now) the choice to move here,  wasn't based on those things - but I miss them dearly... and it's nobody else's place to tell ppl to "go back".

Your employer has lost his or her freedoms because they are now forced to give you what you consider freedom. But I guess your employers freedom doesn't count here.

Well said indeed!! I am completely unclear as to what Western Europe is doing regarding their Borders. I believe Brexit was elected on BY the population to stem the flow of people coming in and creating havoc. I just returned from a trip to London. I was there last in 2000. I was aghast at the changes....and NOT for good at all. Changes are part of life but this is basically a not too subtle attempt of religion taking over a country.

I did pay for through my taxes, but I never had to worry about if my genes would not be covered by a money greedy company ...again.. freedom is not free - freedom is to live worry free (among other things)

In contrary to what the bible tells you, SCIENCE is your friends and will explain to you that said "life" can not survive on it's own - It is not up to the government of ANY country to force women to be living incubators. A woman's right to choose the life she wants to live and how and when she wants to become a mother, far outweighs all and any "rights" of an embryo. As always - men should have absolutely no say on the matter but always have a lot to say about it in this country.

Since you have never experienced it of course you can't understand it - NO you can't do "what you want" on their land. There are laws that have to be followed and funny enough land owners in Sweden have NO problem with this freedom - they embrace it.

Yea... lol that's just not true... not too long ago a "white" and a "black" weren't allowed to be together.... just heard the other day that a gay couple got denied buying a wedding cake.... gay couples can still not be legally married in some states... loving someone also means being able to live any life they chose to with that person..

I grew up with nudity not being a thing at the beach or when sunbathing in your backyard. That's fact not denial. Just because you can't imagine it... doesn't mean it's not true..

If what you're saying is true, then Swedish companies wouldn't be able to compete with international companies... which they can.. so you are wrong. As to the topic, it is vital that we vet immigrants and visitors, I don't think anyone disagrees with that.
Thing is, we already had excellent vetting, it's nothing new. Now Trump wants extreme vetting. Ok, but he does not understand the intrinsic
immigration backlog he will cause and to which Tillerson said he is aware that backlogs will happen.

The stupidest thing in the memorandum is this : Tillerson states CO's are to stick to 4-5 min interviewing applicants but must ask them
the 5-7 new additional questions in the memo.......how does that work in 4-5 min to vet someone ? A CO is not to interview more
than 120 applicants a day ? Really ? 120 ? It shouldn't be more than 50. As usual this administration makes no sense.
Oh yeah, let's vet to the extreme but get out in 4 minutes and let them marinade in the AP abyss on Donkey and Mantis check
for eternity while our tourism industry goes down hill. Eye roll !
There is Trumps way and then there is a better way. Hope they figure this out. A backlog such as this will 100% backlog every single
immigrant in the long run, no matter what country they come from. The FBI agency is badly backlogged already.
AOS and ROC are already taking forever and a day.
Will they hire more personnel ? Oh no, they will not. I just love it when big shots make rules and  do not understand the consequences
