Yes I think that I saw that too.

i wouldn't want to see her punished, we likely never will get the truth.  However some transparency would indeed be nice.

So, the second page states she professed "extraordinary ability" which is sort of the O1 category, if you stretch it a bit.  It is on her twitter page.

I'm not advocating for any retribution now, but be real.  Don't act like you're above everyone else.  You came here to succeed and have a better life just like other immigrants.

Exactly! I don't want to hear her husband go on and on about how we only want a special breed of immigrants who contribute a lot when she came over here with no skills, no degree, and "extraordinary talent", aka being a playboy model.

Exactly.  To be honest, trump is very smart.  He knows what issues would cater to the voters.  Immigration is one of them.  I saw many supporters comment during the campaign that we need to eliminate immigration period.  This does not surprise me.

I must say it does not suprize me that much, in my oppinion he shows a lot of sighns of a narssesistic personalety disorder ( with is not uncommen under cuttroath bussnis man/woman) one of the main sighns is not beeing able o emphaphize or even regonize the simmelarety in that situation.

Right.  trump boasted once that he used government loopholes to avoid paying taxes.  He was very smug about it.  Bend the rules if it works for him, but its a different story when the shoe is on the other foot.

If you're ever bored and you have Twitter; go follow Trump_Regrets and see tweets people send out who originally vote for Trump and now regret it. Outcome is hilarious, occasionally laughing a lot.

Yeah I find it super obnoxious that he's trying to change anything about legal immigration considering she probably worked here illegally, is entirely unskilled and was allowed to obtain citizenship. She should be sent back.

Well, being pretty and thin is a highly trained skill, right?

Chain immigration can be a huge thing.  Joseph is now a USC and could currently petition all his siblings. ( 21 of them )  and their spouses and minor children.  At the moment that would mean one person could bring over 100 people simply due to sharing a parent or two.  The ones that are highly educated could come on their own ( a doctor , an engineer )  which would be more reasonable and less taxing on everyone.

And America further brain drains the world.  If we'd actually open up more medical schools, doctor shortage would be less of an issue for us.  I'm sure that Nigeria would appreciate keeping the doctors they've trained as well.

I think it's pretty skilled when you can make money out of posing for a camera for a few hours. Victoria Secret can call me anytime if they want to, wish I could make my money like that instead of trying to deal with customers day in day out.

I'll give her credit.  She knows 6 languages.  But that's not a reason why she's here.  I thought that she was so much prettier before she started to mess with her face.

I hope immigrants will always have to choice to petition their parents and I can't see it changing but so much has
already changed there are no guarantees.
Sure, if you have healthy middle aged parents in another country life is good, no drama no issues. You

chose to leave your country and that was that, you are happy with your spouse, have kids and live your life, visiting

when you can.
There is another side to this too.
One of your parents dies, you are an only child and there is no one to look into your now aged mother or father.
Dementia sets in and they wander the streets looking for you. You settle them into a assisted living or nursing
home (if available) and hope for the best. One day you get a call from the hospital that your mother died. Alone.
When my mother was still able to come here she refused. She did not want to leave her country.
She became frail and there was no one around to help her. I had a husband and kids and a business here.
It was my mother that died alone in that hospital, I did not even know she was dying.
I don't wish this on anyone.
The guilt is still with me of not being by her side, just as much as it would have been not being here with my children.
It is not always all good when you leave parents behind and if you have not discovered it yet you will some day.
Sure it was my choice as a very young adult to leave my country but I did not see far enough into the future at the time.
I just tried to adapt to the consequences.
Now I see my immigrant spouse go through the same worries.

These guys are going all out with creating misery for families. Anyway, there's a new bill about to be introduced to do away with I-130's for adult siblings and parents: My question; if I filed for I-130 for siblings and parents (I'm a citizen), before this law comes into effect... would they be in the clear, or would it nullify their application?

At this point we don't know.  Personally I think that it's a good idea that would cut down on a lot of expenses to healthcare and welfare.  My counter question is how many developed countries allow this in the first place?

Posted (edited)

I don't necessarily see the removal of being able to petition fully adult children or siblings as a bad thing. I do feel that we should be able to petition elderly parents though. At the same time that we're thinking about restricting these things though, if we could fix the immigration system in a way that would allow parents and siblings to visit the country easier would be a good idea. That's going to be hard to do if we keep allowing people to adjust in ways they shouldn't be.

I can't think of many. The UK used to have a sort of 'retiree' visa for the more wealthy elderly but they even did away with that. Look, my husband misses all of his adult siblings, his nieces and nephew, and his elderly parents. I could see his parents living the rest of their lives in some retirement home in South Carolina or Florida never giving the UK a second thought ever again... but we have to be realistic. Visits will have to do. We're not rich by any means and no way we could sponsor everyone. I don't know how people could manage to sponsor so many. That's what makes me wonder if most of the noise from politicians who create bills like this is a lot of hot air. I can think of many reasons why bringing an elderly parent to this country would be difficult, in particular regarding the cost of healthcare or even obtaining some sort of insurance.

I'm not going to pretend that I know why these categories exist.  I don't, nor do I know how long they've existed.

If you want to go biblical, there's the verse often said at weddings about a man leaving his family to be joined in marriage etc etc.  I realize that many cultures it's their culture to take care of the elderly and what not, but assimilation seems to be the goal in the United States.  It's not uncommon for (or didn't used to be) adults to say to their children time to leave at 18-21 years of age.

I never intended to end up in the United States like my parents, I happened to meet someone on vacation.  My parents never intended to end up here either, but they found their own way through a work visa.
