If this will become a law, I'm going to be a heartbroken.

Once I become a citizen, I wanted to petition my parents. :( I can't imagine them being alone and old in the country far away.

Or does it only affects families of LPR?

Unknown at this point.  I'm borderline on bringing parents as it does indeed greatly impact healthcare.  But for the most part I believe this to be a good thing.

Yeah, I'm well aware of the healthcare cost but we're willing to cover that, not to mention my parents would have retirement paychecks.

This is really unfair for some people. I'm the only child and there is no one back in my country to take care of my parents. :/

It is very common in American culture to live a great distance apart from your parents (my mother is at least a plane transfer away and a whole day's trip, like she has been most of the years since I turned 16)...assimilation ahoy I guess.  I think it was actually a little easier for her to visit us in Denmark, then where we live now in America.

Like I said, it is going to be a hard point to argue, but contact your representatives and let them know how you feel about this.

Or people who are desperate to have their parents with them, having them come on the tourist visa and staying :/ Which, I know, is a horrible solution.

Anchor babies is a stupid thing, but personally I see nothing wrong in wanting to have your family with you. :(

Playing devils advocate a sec...could this backfire with more illegal immigrants and potentially more marriage fraud?

I would think more marriage fraud or arranged marriage type situations might result, but the net result would be less immigration theoretically.  Let's say you want to bring over your brother, before he could bring his wife and children and then his wife could petition her family members and so on.  With a change like this, your brother would have to find a man or woman in America with the status to petition a spouse.  That already removed one potential immigrant and their whole family.

It also fosters integration in some respects.

So not having generations of a potentially persecuted "immigrant class" is stupid, but bringing parents isn't because it is specific to your situation?

Talks of removal of parents and siblings for immigration isn't new. A lot of us have heard it before. In fact, I think there were a couple of immigration reform proposals that had removal of parents and siblings. The only difference now is that with the current administration it is closer to actually happened than before. But then again no one can predict if it will happen or not.

For those who have plans to petition those family members in the future just be strong, hope for the best, yet have a contingency plan just in case it is implemented.

Why is it unfair?  You can always go back to your country and live with your parents if you are concerned.  You made the decision to come here.

No one forced you to come here.

I think we shouldn't allow children who are just born in the US to obtain citizenship. As I'm living in Qatar right now I see so many people of many different nationalities who just go to US to have their babies, get the passport and just leave. Most of them take advantage and don't end up paying their hospital costs either as they will just leave after obtaining the passport. I didn't realize how common this was until I moved here.

Even though you are completely right, in most cases. ( for refugees going back is not an option) For a lot of other people that means leaving there husband and children behind. And that is still a choice, but that is a very mathematical way of looking at a human problem. And it couses hard break.

It is a big country, almost every famely in america was a some point an immegrant. And yes these familys cost mony in healthcare and such, but the equally also bring mony in to the country.
Just because somone has the right to do something does not make it right, ( we dont stop caring for or star evicting  US citesens elders)
