Here is an interesting nugget about immigrants and their education and drive to contribute to society instead of always
hearing about them draining the economy. Au contraire, immigrants stimulate the economy and pay taxes, are innovative
and create jobs. Cut down the numbers of immigrants and see the economy suffer. If I had a penny for every time I see a
native born American too lazy to better themselves with an education or trade school !
Immigrants work circles around Americans and I see it with my own eyes every day. Of course there are exceptions to this but
overall it is a misconception about immigrants taking and not contributing and it is deceptive of Trump & Co to paint that
picture. Even Bush (never thought I would miss the guy) had statistics out years ago showing this.

People need to wake up to the alt right Koolaid flavor.

In 2014, 29 percent (10.5 million) of the 36.7 million immigrants ages 25 and older had a bachelor's degree or higher, compared to 30 percent of native-born adults. Notably, the share of college-educated immigrants is much higher—44 percent—among those who entered the country since 2010.
African immigrants to the U.S. are among the most educated groups in the United States. Some 48.9 percent of all African immigrants hold a college diploma. This is more than double the rate of native-born white Americans, and nearly four times the rate of native-born African Americans.

My earlier post repeated and quoted. Again.
Third world immigrants do not end up in ghettos but apply themselves with a passion for education and surpass
native born adults. Period.
That narrative of ghettos and welfare fits only one agenda and that is the white nationalist anti- immigration nut job Bannon
who drafted the EO which caused chaos because he doesn't know what he is doing.

He draws the "them against us line" and divides human beings by class. This kind of bigotry and stereotyping does not belong here.
Bigotry and lies is all that drives this stereotypical nonsense.
I am done with being being quoted and called out by a certain poster here who constantly derails this thread. Enough is enough.

Here's an article similar to one posted earlier that, while just rumors at this point, at least suggests that the Trump administration is thinking about enforcing the Affidavit of Support more than has been the case:

"People who use any of those benefits and are in the US on visas would be subject to deportation. And the order would even require the person who sponsored an immigrant into the US to reimburse the federal government for any benefits the immigrant used (something that the government can theoretically ask for in individual cases now, but rarely does)."

I utterly despise Trump as a person and disagree with 99% of all that he's done, but this is somewhat reasonable. As USC's, we do sign up to financially support our loved ones; it makes sense for the Affidavit of Support to be enforced.

I agree with the same, but how much is it going to cost to enforce this?

There is a reason why such things are not enforced because of the effort/money it takes.

Imagine the amount of investigation/evidence they need to contest someone's financial liability in court, their time to defend it, then a lien, then garnishing etc etc.

Good point. It would be incredibly hard to track down how many people are in violation of the I-864 at this point. No use really; the backlog would be insane.

Same thing about illegal immigrants.

Every country has policies about illegal immigrants etc. How financially feasible it is to track them down, give them their day in court and then deport them to a country willing to take them?

Someone did the stats on it and it was YUGELY expensive. Since Herr Trump and President Bannon won't pay for it, guess who is paying for it?

Great point. Illegal immigration would be ridiculously impossible to conquer as well at this point. It's just a waste of resources. Both human and economic.

On the other hand, Trump is like a dog with a bone when it comes to immigration, both illegal and legal, apparently. There's no doubt that he'll be willing to waste the time and money.

When a non-politician with a YUGE ego gets into a powerful position of executing whatever he thinks he can and doesn't think through the consequences; or doesn't consult his own departments; we the people of USA suffer.

Not to mention all those consulates, NVCs, USCIS workers working on cases from those 7 countries may not get paid, etc. Visa and processing fees is responsible for a lot of jobs. How does this tie in with Cheetolini's agenda of creating more jobs? Obviously, I am not saying MORE than regular immigration, merely suggesting he needed to think things through.

How hard would it be to flag people when they apply for social services?   They can flag people across state lines when they don't pay a traffic ticket.

I guess the social services would need to be defined.    Or just allow the immigrants to take it and bill the petitioner at tax time.      A tax lien would suffice.

I dont think we will ever see less immigration overall.   I do think we will see less immigration from certain regions or countries.   Then other areas will just increase to fill the void.

There are lot of things written / heard about the New immigration bill which is introduce which will hike the wages to $130K ...

But no one talks about below two things which will help both Employment & Family base immigration

-      Per country Cap for Employment will be removed!

-      Per country cap for Family based will be increased from 7% to 15 % !

SECTION 2. NUMERICAL LIMITATION TO ANY SINGLE FOREIGN STATE

 Eliminates the “per country” cap for employment-based immigrant visas so that all workers are treated fairly. o Ends discrimination in allocation of employment-based visas so employers can hire the most skilled workers without regard to national origin. o Ensures that all employment-based immigrants are subject to the same wait times for visas.

 Raises the “per country” cap from 7% to 15% for family-sponsored immigrant visas.

F4 - India - PD - 23rd March 2003

- Received COA 14th May 2015

- Received Visa and reached to US in Feb 2016
