"We have had an immigration problem since  the 1965 law" yet here you are with an immigrant significant other. Ironic.

Seems like those in favor of lessening immigration quotas are the ones to not personally adhere to that idea....it's just for everyone else

but not them, they get exempt for being "special". Trump and Trump supporters both.
Would like to see more of Melania's immi history also.

good thing is my manager personally knows someone VERY close to trump so that MIGHT help

Pakistan has a very good identification and record keeping system so i doubt it will be banned ... in addition, we  are doing a lot to fight terrorism and country is pretty clean now ... i dont mind the administration doing strong vetting....

Prepare yourself to be stuck in AP extreme vetting for a year or two.

Having immigration limits per country is so that those who do come here can have the best opportunity to assimilate into our culture.

This is why the 1924 policy had limits.    Now we are getting overrun by third world people.   Eventually they stop assimilating and just get into ghettos because they are integrating.    Then our first world start looking like their third world.

Family based immigration is so successful because assimilation is almost guaranteed.    It's a perfect mix of assimilation yet bringing some new perspectives for the new family.

Yes I am.   Just because I have an immigrant fiancé/wife doesn't mean that we do not have a bad immigration policy.

Family based immigration has been largely successful.   It's the worker side of immigration that needs serious overhaul.

The 1965 policy has a lot of problems and has led to many of the issues.   I invite you to educate yourself on the policy and compare it to the policy before.... which was the 1924.

Family based immigration brings no skilled personnel into the US. Worker side immigration does.

So a lot of people may disagree with you. Or agree with you.

Agreed.   Depends on how you value the American worker I suppose.

I wouldn't mind prioritizing family immigration cases by the skill level of the beneficiary.

Now this is going into cognitive dissonance.

Belarus is also a third world country. Do you tell your immigrant wife that your country is being overrun by third world people like her?

Family based immigration is successful because assimilation is guaranteed? Are you for real? What about those loads of mothers, fathers grand parents who immigrate through family visa and dont assimilate?

I'm entirely sure that this may be fake news but this one has me slightly concerned in a huge way: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trump-administration-circulates-more-draft-immigration-restrictions-focusing-on-protecting-us-jobs/2017/01/31/38529236-e741-11e6-80c2-30e57e57e05d_story.html?postshare=2611485889175975&tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.6a4fef7afadf

So basically, because at one point I did receive benefits for my US citizen daughter (who has a US citizen father) I could be deportable?  I didn't receive any benefits for myself (I excluded myself from the application for benefits) but they were issued in my name as I was deemed head of household by a legal technicality at birth (her father and I weren't married, I was still legally married awaiting a final divorce

in Canada thus making my ex her legal father due to presumed paternity)

Really hoping that this one isn't true.

My finace's K-1 visa was approved on December 7, 2016.  She has the visa in hand.  The visa expires on June 3, 3016.  She is a Libyan citizen.  The muslim ban should technically end in 90 days, around 1 month before the visa expires.

Are all visas revoked now?  Do I have to go through the whole process again?  Or would there just be extra questioning at the first POE?  Please help, I'm so confused I do not know what to do.

I would imagine extra questions.  But get that flight booked when the 90 days is up.   And your fiancé shouldn't leave the country anytime soon.

That is the one that has me itching to file for citizenship for my husband ASAP.  It is too vague and too poorly researched just like this other policy they've put out.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

Indeed.  I'm a long way from citizenship and it would ultimately split our family as hubs has a daughter here from his previous marriage.  Frightens me.

We could just move back to Europe, I mean it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would be starting over yet again for my husband in a career in his 30s, which is hard.  We've been gone long enough now that he can't pick back up his old certification.    Although with Brexit, our path back might be more complicated and we'd probably end up in the UK or a different European country.

At least he's eligible for citizenship as he'll have been a LPR for almost 4 years soon.

If it does come to light as new policy, my hopes are that because I didn't take any benefits, only the USC's did (Medicaid, food stamps) and only took WIC (not means tested apparently) that it would be overlooked.  I remember the application in the hospital was pretty much routine.  They registered her and did the application at the same time.
