This has been reported many times and it alarmed the collective of lawyers that desperately gathered to try and help these people. It's easy to coerce a frightened immigrant when they do not have access to legal council. They did it to LPRs, and they did it to other visa holders too. One man's elderly father refused to sign (still being denied council) and was told he would go to jail. His son, waiting for him in the Dallas airport, doesn't even know where his father is now.

Reported where?

I just did numerous searches to find this or anything close.   Nothing came up.

This is just more hysteria made to get donations for these groups and in turn they terrify good people.

Those who might believe what Trump spits out of his mouth. He posted a status on Facebook an hour ago about the current situation.

Statement Regarding Recent Executive Order Concerning Extreme Vetting

“America is a proud nation of immigrants and we will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do so while protecting our own citizens and border. America has always been the land of the free and home of the brave.

We will keep it free and keep it safe, as the media knows, but refuses to say. My policy is similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months. The seven countries named in the Executive Order are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror. To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting.

This is not about religion - this is about terror and keeping our country safe. There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order. We will again be issuing visas to all countries once we are sure we have reviewed and implemented the most secure policies over the next 90 days.

I have tremendous feeling for the people involved in this horrific humanitarian crisis in Syria. My first priority will always be to protect and serve our country, but as President I will find ways to help all those who are suffering.”

109.. according to DHS.

Cannot compare a mechanical\weather delay to the inconvenience of those not (initially) admitted despite valid visas; some of whom were held incommunicado for a while.

Not to speak for him.   But The other 99% of his post was spot on.... why you and others focus on a throw away comment at the end is comical.

Whether you like or dislike what was said....  facts are still facts.

One funny comment on travel delays doesn't make anything else less factual.

Everyone needs to take a breath and have a word with themselves on this matter.   The insanity and panic coming from people is over the top.

Yes, it will hold up in court.  LPR's can be denied entry to USA.  Only USA citizens cannot be denied entry, but they can be detained, arrested and taken into custody.

Not only is it not a permanent ban on Muslims . . . it is NOT a ban on Muslims.

Do any realize that more Muslims live in Indonesia than any other country?

That is NOT what the judge ruled!

The ruling was that persons could not be immediately deported.

They could  still be held and deported later.

But, as I understand it . . . despite the hysteria . . . there were only 100-200 people detained, out of 325,000 who entered USA on Saturday . . . and all but 12 of them are now released into USA.

I (and probably many here) have been delayed in reaching my destination by several days due to weather, mechanical problems, strikes at airports, etc.  But thousands of people did not turn out to protest my delay.

I was recently delayed on an international trip for 4 days due to weather and no one protested my delay either.  Then again, I wasn't held against my will in an airport basement, unable to communicate with the outside world, for 4 days either.

LPRs have a right to due process according to the US constitution. The EO is not due process.

It is a temporary ban of muslims from those countries. Because the temporary ban is taking in to account religious faith, it is by proxy discriminatory.

They could  still be held and deported later.

I might be missing something, but here is the ruling:

"WHEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the respondents, their officers, agents, servants, employees, attorneys, and all members and persons acting in concert or participation with them, from the date of this Order, are

ENJOINED AND RESTRAINED from, in any manner or by any means, removing individuals with refugee applications approved by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services as part of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, holders of valid immigrant and non-immigrant visas, and other individuals from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen legally authorized to enter the United States.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that to assure compliance with the Court's order, the Court directs service of this Order upon the United States Marshal for the Eastern District of New York, and further directs the United States Marshals Service to take those actions deemed necessary to enforce the provisions and prohibitions set forth in this Order.

SO ORDERED."

Where does it say they can be deported later? I mean unless there were to be some kind of extra-ordinary circumstance that would take away the LPR rights, I don't see how the ruling says what you are saying?

The first day it was closer to 400 (from what it is known), but there have been problems getting actual numbers, since they won't release it.

The insanity is not coming from people. It is coming from Trump.
It was a shock change and people were left hanging in mid air. No details had been worked out.
Clueless and compulsive in the White House, make EO's and figure out the how to's later. Absurd.
Not to mention the thousands of people that have been stuck in this process and in AP for long security checks, then have been
issues visas and quit their jobs, sold their belongings, packed their bags and bought a ticket to be with their spouses and fiances

only to be pulled from flights.
All the ones who finally had interviews and now are told forget the interview.
I would pay to see your face had it been you.
It would have been less chaotic had they put a date and freeze of visa issuing ahead of time so people can plan accordingly.
This is a typical Trump blunder, act first think later.
Take that fact and smoke it.

Ah more hysteria.....

nice of you to ofc hit at everyone's sweet spot here and pretending that it was 109 people who married an American.

You can make a point that it may be insensitive to have this policy without the hysteria.

These have been watched countries for quite a while.

And you asked how I would handle this situation.....     given that I keep up with the news I would have expected this situation since he has campaigned on this topic for over a year and a half.

And as long as people aren't involved with terrorism then they have nothing to worry about....  they will be asked questions and move on.    As 97/109 were that day.

Sure..

..but an ill-thought, and an ill-executed plan; that did not go through intra-agency vetting or through the WH office of the Legal Counsel. That's what many don't get.

Gen. John F. Kelly, the secretary of homeland security, had dialed in from a Coast Guard plane as he headed back to Washington from Miami. Along with other top officials, he needed guidance from the White House, which had not asked his department for a legal review of the order.

Halfway into the briefing, someone on the call looked up at a television in his office. “The president is signing the executive order that we’re discussing,” the official said, stunned.

It's easy to think like some do in this thread because the ban doesn't apply to them and certainly not affect them. Maybe not all had a family bases visa but most has greencards, work visas. They won't be able to show up at work, maybe now that the ban has raised on GC holders. Think of Mo Farah, the British Citizen who was born in Somalia and was denied entry, had to Skype his childer that 'Daddy won't come home for a while.' Of course it is easy to say it's too hysteric but you can never ever imagine how these people feel.

Agree. Indonesia isnt on the list yet, but im pretty scared that we'll make the list in the future. I'm trying to finish up the I-130 packet as quickly as I can, not that it'll make a lot of difference if one cold morning he decides to put my country in the list.
