I-130 then I-485

Hi everyone

 

My mom applied for me to get the I-130 approval it has been approved.

 

We did this in October 2013, evidently we await for the priority date, I have checked and according to an estimate it says in 2020 June that will become available...

 

Can I in the meantime file for adjustment and make an upfront payment in the interim or do I need to await when the priority becomes available?

 

If anyone out there can please help me out with any guideance of what and how to get through the situation?

 

I have also found out that my mom needs to receive an alien number in order to fill out the I-485 form?

In the event when this arrives if I am in South Africa should I go to the USA embassy or fly out to the USA and do the biometrics inside, just wondering about this whole situation and which is the best appropriate way to manage this application, thank you to you all who will be taking the time to answer this...

There's no visa available to you until your priority date becomes current, so you can't apply to adjust status.

Guess I shall wait till 2020, just thought I could do the payment in the meantime, but when the PD is available I can fly out to the USA and do the adjustment within the USA?

No because that would be immigration fraud. You need to go through consular processing, meaning you'll go to your country's consulate for interview

So the process needs to be done from my country and the interview in the USA embassy thank you.

 

if I am inside the USA for a visit I should not even try doing the adjustment only through the embassy in South Africa?
