Can you have your interview in a different state to which you live?

Our interview was rescheduled as we moved from VT to MA but when they rescheduled the interview they wrongly kept it in VT. Can I just go to this interview or will it need to take place in the state I live?

Ive heard a lot of mixed opinions on this and just don't know what to believe! Some people say you have to do it in your jurisdiction, and others say jurisdiction is only relevant for naturalization.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Thank you!

I would try and reschedule again explaining you've moved. But just in case, I'd clear my schedule and intend to show up, even if I'd get dismissed and sent home right away, just because I'd rather not risk not showing up and getting denied or something

The thing is that I don't mind going to it in Vermont it's just I don't want to be turned away as I'm not in jurisdiction or whatever haha.

Thank you you for your help :)

It's naturalization that requires a living in the district or state at least three months before applying .

Go to Vermont and get it over with.

Awesome. This is what I needed to hear! I'm just bummed because we had our original interview before it was rescheduled on 15th June and we could've had it done! But a 8 hour round trip and a hotel room for a night isn't bad for the interview!

thank you!

Somebody has obviously messed up and didn't get the memo that you moved so needed a new field office, not simply a new date. If you are tired of messing around and just want to get it done and dusted, then go for what you have. Have you called anybody at USCIS and asked if they could confirm your interview date and location? Tell them the dog ate the letter.🐶

I ended up contacting the attorney who worked on my case earlier in the process and they were confused. Since they have a contact at the VT field office they decided to give them a call and ask what was going on. So when they went to reschedule my interview apparently they couldn't find the change of address that we filed and therefore they just rescheduled it for our old address, which is odd, and they told the attorney that since we no longer live in VT they will have to forward our case to MA for rescheduling. So basically they made a mistake! Which is annoying haha but I understand since the amount of paperwork they get must be sickening haha.

Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it
