Asking someone to do something for their country is pretty much a conservative ideal now, which is sad really. I would love to be more of a Democrat but they keep turning MOR Middle Class people away from so that they can advocate for the fringe elements of society. Sorry I am not going to vote for someone who calls me a racist and xenophobe because I want to look after my family full of mixed race childen.

Oh good lord. Do you actually read what you write, or is this just a case of verbal diarrhea? If today's "conservatives" were so great about doing for their country, then why is paying taxes seen as a form of stealing? You can be married to someone of another race, and still be a racist.  Perhaps deep down you are a racist, and your over reaction to what an individual in the Democratic party says, has stired something inside, you just aren't ready to face? I am not saying you are racist, only conjecture on my part, but I have met a fare few people with the "I am not racist, because..."mentality.

Me and most of the country. That's why real centrists like us can't see us voting for them in the foreseeable future, unless they find someone normal for a change(something they haven't had since JFK).

Normal? Is that code for white alpha male? Sorry to be the one to tell you, but the country is leaving you behind. Most young people are aren't buying conservative ideology any more, and the usual dog whistle words just aren't going to cut it. As I have said earlier, the Democratic party is in serious need of reform. The supposed center is an illusion, and trying to find common ground with the right, a.k.a. as the modern Republican party is a waste of time and effort. The Dems desperately need to return back to the parties roots and offer working people a seat at the table.

The more Dems move to the center, then the Republican party will just move even further to the right.

Not really sure if moving even more to the Left is the answer, but by all means, keep heading in that direction.  Sure, young people are generally not conservative, but you seem to forget that many of those young people grow up and many of them change their beliefs over time.  Believing that anyone cannot change political beliefs in the course of their lives is pretty naïve, but hey, the DNC has a lot of winning going on.

This is why I can't take you guys seriously. The Democratic leadership is most definitely not left leaning. I honestly feel the reason why "conservatives" are so insistent on labelling the Dems as far left, is just an excuse to move further to the right. Obviously they will never admit otherwise, because doing so, will be an admission right wing policies are destroying America's soul.

From what I saw in the last election cycle was a leftist vs a centrist, the centrist won.  Being conservative is not a bad thing and many people do become more conservative especially fiscally as they grow older as they realize there is a need to be responsible for ones own life and family and they should not be relying on some nanny state government.  Bernie Sanders brought the DNC much further left than I think the leaders and Hillary would have wanted, but once she was there, she stayed which is why I think Bill was so pissed.

White alpha male - who cares about alpha males lol. You people and your assumptions. The country left ME behind? I'm a conservative? For one look around you at all the recent elections and tell me who the country left behind(frustrating, I know). For two - I'm not a conservative buddy. Oh and three - most young people are dumb. Usually if you give them time, they learn. That's why older generations are ALWAYS more conservative than younger ones, even if it's the same generation that used to be the younger one.
