Yes, we may end up doing that when I finally retire. Right now, I love teaching and need the health insurance, etc. We had more than 6 pounds of evidence to begin with. They wasted no time in sending our papers back. Our senators' offices have been wonderful trying to help us.

He is talking about possibly moving to a country in the EU to help his business. We are just living day to day.

I get the feeling going outside of the box would freak them out...lol  They are already shocked at divorces.

I am going to try to contact the embassy while I'm there. They should be helping Americans.

Getting a EU Visa is same hard as getting a Visa to USA. If you don`t have relatives, the only major way is being a top qualified person (think nobel price winner) or with an investor visa, that can cost lots of money. UAE has very simple immigrant visa rules and is as western as it can get. But of course, you guys need to sort that out between yourself.

He lived in Serbia for 3 years because I wouldn't travel to Pakistan at that time. That where he started one of the businesses. Of course, they are not in the EU. But there is much more relative freedom there, for sure. But it is so poor, and they hate Americans. BUT we have some wonderful friends there and also a piece of land for our business. He was talking more about some place like Hungary rather than Germany or France. It's expensive in those countries to have a business.

Bulgaria and Cyprus have the most friendly investor visas in the EU. In Bulgaria for example you have to create 5 jobs for locals with a business and he can get a visa, but they are not in Shengen. Much better than Serbia which just has a major war behind them.

Clearly living together in a third country would be the strongest evidence hands down. It's something to consider and besides if you're worried about possibly one of you dying before you get a US visa approved, if life in a third country really was an option, why not take it right now? At least you could be together.

Thanks for the advice. It's hard coming up with all the money involved in businesses and me coming and going. I don't know which will give out first..our health or our money. It's just sad all around. And when I hear illegals here griping about their "rights" it just make me so mad.

I need to keep teaching for another couple of years. I have some health issues, for which i need meds. Right now, I have great insurance. Somewhere else, I would not get medicare. Also, I have a brother who is suffering from MD that I don't want to leave right now, I have a big dog and a house to take care of, etc. I need to save some money, etc. We are waiting for his kids to get decent jobs so they can take over the house expenses. But at the end of the next two years, if we don't hear something, we will have to re-exam what we are going to do.

Well, healtcare is a right here in Europe, and you can get insured for a couple of $ per months even without having a business or job, The insurance would literally cover everything. So, if you have health issues, moving to a EU country will solve any health insurance issues as over here, private insurances are not needed, it is all public.

Michael---Which countries are you talking about in particular? My friend is from Germany and goes back to see her sister and brother. No offense, but she hates it in Germany. She says things are much better here. I don't know, I'm just saying what she says.

I'm sure you would have to become a citizen to be part of their health system. I know in UK, health care is for #######. I had friends who had to wait for surgeries, etc. Right now, I have wonderful insurance.

I'm sure you will get your visa easily. I am jealous!!! lol

Hi, no all those infos are wrong. If you are a legal resident in any EU country, you can buy for just a couple of EUR into the public health insurance. That is the law. As for being better or not, depends on perspective.  If you are middle or low income, you will do better in EU, if you are wealthy, you will do better in USA in general. I am living in Austria and it is a close to perfect health system here.Same as it would be in Scandinavia or Switzerland.  Anyhow, as you have a time window of 2 years, you can do your own research.

Well, your story is full of red flags, that each of them could be a problem but so many at once caused the CO to refuse:

1. 5th Man

2. You are 16 year older then him. This does not usually happen in islamic countries.

3. You have a different religion. Not impossible to happen but rare.

4. You met online.

5. Most important, you have brought over already someone else. This is a big big red flag.  Very often, a second petition is refused.

If you have relatively little face time, this would be the next red flag.

So, with all above, not sure if a name change will help but it cant hurt. Now they will send your case back to USCIS, and they will contact you.

You will need to answer to them. They will decide if they send the case back to the embassy or revoke it based on your answers to their questions.

I'm married to a man from Jordan, a Muslim country. Second marriage for me, I have 2 adult children.

I am 20 years older. It usually doesn't happen in Western countries, either.  So that point is moot. A visa cannot be denied based on age alone, it's discrimination. I met him online. Many, many people meet their significant others online. It is not uncommon. I'm also a different religion.

Never at any point during our journey were any of these points an issue. We've been happily married for six and a half years and my husband is now a citizen.

To the OP:

Pakistan is by far the most difficult consulate to obtain a visa from, it's just a fact. Changing your name won't prove a thing as Muslim women don't change their names when they marry. I did not change my name, I kept my ex husband's name as it made things easier where my children were concerned, less confusion.

How long ago did you bring over your spouse from Morocco, and how long after divorcing did you start your friendship with your current husband?
