Dear all,

my husband wanted to sign me into the DEERS program and we checked the requirements. Now the first lady refused us based on me having a SSN but no longer the card. I won't get a SSN card reissued until I am again a legal resident. We tried to explain but she then refused us based on us not having a certified marriage certificate.

Again, the regulations said a certified copy OR the original. We brought the original but she wanted the certified one.

Next time around they refused to sign me in because I didn't have a birth certificate apostilled. They didn't refuse me flat out but asked me to get my brith certificate apostilled. Now this will delay the whole process by another few weeks and he is about to deploy. I am getting a little frustrated as I brought a certified translated one from Germany. Anyone having the same problems?

I am not sure if I am observing this right but it seems that different DEERs offices handle this all differently...?

Can anyone help us out what to say? Did you go through the same experience?

Thanks for your help!
