This policy has been in the books for awhile.

Deported from U.S., Cambodians fight immigration policy

"Every year, the U.S. deports thousands of immigrants who are convicted of crimes after they serve their prison terms -- including green card holders and those granted asylum. The policy dates back to the Clinton and Bush administrations as part of their efforts to step up national security."

It seems unfair that they are made to do their time and then be deported. True, they are no saints, but it doesn't sound very fair. Americans love second chances.

This one served his time. He did his time, and paid his dues. Should he be deported for that?

That seems to be twisted logic.  Does that mean if I am here in the US illegally all I have to do is commit a crime, do my time or pay my fine and then I can stay?

That seems to be twisted comprehension. I don't see where I mentioned illegals in my post.

are you fleeing persecution in your home country? because if so, i say yes. but i don't see the need to require a crime committed.

it's not about reward. it's about human's protecting other human's lives. if we are in a position to shelter someone that faces religious persecution just by allowing them to live in our country, it's the right thing to do.

i don't think any of these people are in prison right now facing deportation..maybe i didn't catch that part. i thought they'd all recently been rounded up by ice.

canada did say they would take them, and that's great. it's just, not right. it goes against everything america is supposed to stand for. but, clearly attitudes concerning americans providing safety to non americans has been changing pretty rapidly..

America is rapidly becoming a good place to be from. Iamx got out and moved to  alberta.

not win win. i don't see the need for us to pay money to uproot people and pawn them off on another country. we have a responsibility as fellow humans on this planet, to help where we can. especially when we cause so much turmoil in other countries/people's lives.

I get it.  Open borders are the answer.  Why even pay money for a USCIS or CBP.
