Hey all :)

Thanks for your replies, congratulations to all of you. How have you all found it since moving and readjusting in a new country?

Were currently in the first part of the journey :( We sent off the forms on April 5th and it was received april 7th, and received in mail a few days later.

Just wondering how long did everyones journey take? I know its all individual and ours will probably be delayed because we forgot to send in my fiancés birth certificate :( Im hoping that by December/january  ill be there!

Thank you!  We are having our legal wedding ceremony on August 4, 2017 and then we will be planning a 1 year vow renewal ceremony and reception for August 4, 2018.  So this year will be very simple and sweet and next year we will celebrate with everyone. :)   We scheduled the medical for a month after we received our case number and the interview for the following week.  The interview process was super simple for my fiancé.  His appointment was scheduled for 1pm and he was completely done and walking out with an approval by 1:28.  So only 28 minutes from entering the building to leaving. haha.  They only asked him about 5 basic questions.. Where I live, where my parents live, where my daughter stays after school, etc.. and then told him he had already been approved. :)

I will break down our timeline for you so that you can get a better idea of how our process went.

12/21/16 - I-129f packet sent to Texas

12/23/16 - I-129f packet received

1/5/17- NOA1 receipt date

1/10/17 - NOA1 Hardcopy received

4/4/17 - NOA2 approval

4/12/17 - NOA2 Hardcopy received

4/21/17 - NVC Received

4/24/17 - Case number assigned from NVC

4/25/17 - Case forwarded to London (we scheduled the medical on this day)

4/28/17 - Case received in London (we scheduled the interview on this day)

5/22/17 - Medical

6/1/17 - Interview (approved)

6/23/17 - Enter United States

When it comes to tips.. Honestly there is not too much you can do at this point.  Research will be your best friend.  Start making a checklist of things you will need for the medical and interview.  I started preparing my affidavit while I was waiting and just waited to sign and date it until we got the approval.  You will need to request a police certificate but it has to be within 6 months of your medical so you don't want to do this too early.  It only took about 2 weeks for my fiancé to receive his so I wouldn't stress that too much.  Check that you have all of your vaccines and if you are missing any go ahead and schedule to get them with your general practitioner.  It is cheaper than getting them at the medical or in the United States.  Other than that, just try to enjoy this time as much as you can.  Once the NOA2 comes things fly by!

I am more than happy to answer any questions I can that you come across.  I am no expert in this but have definitely learned a lot (from all of the awesome people on this forum) during the process!  Sorry for the lengthy post but hopefully some of this will help!  haha. Best of luck for a speedy process for you two!

Here is the checklist I sent my fiancé for the medical and interview:

For Medical—

Confirmation of LND case number from NVC (my fiancé received this in the mail about 1-2 weeks after London received our case)

Police Certificate

4 passport photos

Drivers license or passport

Vaccination Record

Medical Summary from your doctor (only if you check yes to any of the questions on the questionnaire)

Medical questionnaire

For Interview—

Letter from the embassy with approved I-129f

Confirmation of appointment date and time (from email)

Copy of ds-160 confirmation page (from email)

I-134 affidavit of support

USC's tax records and w2s

Birth Certificate (original long form)

Police Certificate (original)

2 us sized Passport photos

I have recently begun the K1 process. Got our noa1 yesterday.

I am the beneficiary in the UK, and my fiancé is a USC.

Im a little nervous personally as my fiancé (the petitioner) does have a criminal background. Mine is clean and I'm in a professional career. I'm worried how it will turn out when it gets further down the line. He has children so makes sense for me to move to the US.

JFH above can help you with that. She has dealt with a similar situation and got her visa. (She's the Hello Kitty picture.)

thanks @Wuozopo

@JFH I'm happy to know that it's possible. Did you have to use an attorney?

Hey, thanks so much for your reply. That info really helps! Can I ask did they ask t see the 1-134 affidavit of support form? I read somewhere online that if your filing from England and show that you can support yourself when answering their questions it should be okay? The reason I ask is because my fiancé hasn't worked for the last 12 months because he's been doing online school and been here most the year (Getting student loans and then his veteran money, I think he said that equates to 9000$ a year) and I have been supporting us as a qualified nurse. So when we move I will be able to continue my profession in America.

He did say we can ask his dad to be my sponsor of the 1-134 as that his where we'll be staying for the first few months whilst my visa goes through (Obviously he'll be working in that time but just so we don't have to worry with only one of us has a job if that makes sense).

I hope you have an amazing day today with your fiancee :)

Hey!  They did take my affidavit of support as well as my tax returns for the last 3 years.  As far as I know you will have to provide an affidavit regardless of the situation due to the fact that you are unable to work until after you receive your EAD from AOS which will be months after you arrive.  I would go ahead and have his father prepare to be a co-sponsor for you due to your situation.  Better to be safe than sorry!  :)

And thank you!  Trying to make it through a full day at work before I pick my fiancé up from the airport this evening!  He is currently on his way though and I could not be any more excited!
