I'm in the Charlotte general area. Call the police, have them do a welfare check. Honestly, no random person form VJ is going to show up at this person's address. And in this area of the country, abuse against a female is serious, the state steps in and presses charges plus NC is a must arrest state concerning abuse. So if you call, they are going to arrest someone if she says they are actually abusing her.

My two cent though, if she can call you all the way in Pakistan but she can't call the cops, there is a problem. They probably aren't really abusing her, just trash talking you and her and maybe you guys religion and such as well.

If she has gotten herself into free a situation that isn't safe then the police will direct her to a women's shelter....there are PLENTY in the Charlotte metro area.

I tipped on cold feet backed up by friends/family ..... but it could actually be an issue too, just have the cops knock at that door, then you (OP ) know more

You will never know until you try.

Agree. The police will talk to her alone, away from anyone else. So she needs to be clear with OP what 'abuse' is.....before you guys start a huge problem.

@prolg312 call the police in charlotte and sent them to that address. Secondly, my personal opinion, call the US embassy in your country and explain them the whole, and give second thoughts to your marriage. She's able to contact you but afraid to contact the police ? Nope, HUGE NOPE ....

I agree with what is being said here. If she is afraid for her life, but is asking you not to call the police, that seems suspicious. Where was she video calling from that this man wasn't able to see or hear her?

With that being said, if she is in real danger, I hope she is able to get out of the situation and get help. Encourage her to call the police.

Are u two the same religion? Muslims are very controlling with their female sister and/or daughters when it comes to falling in love with a man outside their religion or even the difference between Shia and Sunni are a problem in Muslim religion.  If she is also Muslim there will be a problem if the brother is against(also anyone in family). The police can go to the house and make sure she is ok but In this kind of family (if Muslim Sunni belief) it will only escalate the situation.  Also, if she is from a family that is old school in the Muslim faith way..they are the ones to find a husband for her.  No police or anyother high power authority will help this matter.  U must continue to have communication with her until she gets to her friends house safely.  Unfortunately,  these kind of beliefs(arranged marriages and feeling of ownership of the girl) can be very scary and end very badly. Please do the best u can to find out her friends information to have her get there without the family knowing. It is going to be very hard. Her claiming that the brother said he will kill her and the mother probably is showing the mother might be trying to protect her (that is very bad in the Muslim faith when it's a daughter being with a man not picked for her). I hope everything will be ok..InshAllah

Sorry to hear about your wife being unfaithful.

A legal marriage in Pakistan is usually also recognized in the US.

What step of the spousal visa process are you on? Is the case at the NVC or embassy yet?

Had something to Post but not able to do despite Anonymous sign-in.

I wanted to Post on same topic as above.

Only people who endured the long wait for NOA2 could understand.

Maybe next time if I can't resolve.

Well it's good you learned about it and can move on with your life.   As to 'here' - talk with your Imam about how to do the divorce - they know everything .

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
