I don't know if there would be any way to change this. I just find it annoying when you go to a specific board, and almost the entire page is full of moved threads. I know they stop getting bumped to the top after they're moved (I think that's right, anyway), but AH - just craziness. If only people would put things where they go, I guess.

I presume you are talking about the K-1 Forum. I've just been in there to have a look and can see your point of view. It does look a little disjointed.

I have been pretty busy with some server issues and adding some members to help on things, but you are right, I need to write the moving guide to give some more universal standards on when things need moving :).

I have one suggestion...why don't we stop leaving a link to the "celebration" threads when they get moved...It *should* be easy enough to get the word out on just that one topic that they are in the subforum if you can't find them. Anyone should be able to follow that....since those are the majority of the threads that are moved, it might help to clear a lot of clutter. Thoughts? M.

It would be nice if more people would put some thought into where they post their questions. And, after seeing posts moved, would think about the post topic, where the post was, and where it was moved to.

Many people, seem to post in the K1 forum perhaps because it is the 1st forum they come to. Or perhaps because they will be, are, or were on a K1 visa even though the question they are asking is not particularly relevant to the visa but instead the question is about adjusting status, what will happen at the POE, or how to get a DL after they arrive. Questions about paying taxes have nothing to do with visa type.

Other questions are relevant to more than 1 visa type and often deal with consular issues (K1 and K3 in particular have many things in common, especially at the consular stage) and so are more appropriately dealt with in the consular forum.

One can learn a lot by observing the moved posts if one thinks about it.

Do you think it would help if when moving a thread, the mover posted "This topic has been moved to the _____ forum" as an explicit reminder of where the question should have been posted?

I still think one 'Yippee' forum for all celebrations would be good.

As for these monthly filer threads, I dunno WHAT to do about those. It's good that the folks in these threads want to stay together and support each other. But, seems to me like they are missing out on a lot. I've noticed a lot of good, valuable discussion goes on in those threads. Too bad those posts aren't going to the main forum rather than isolation to a 'timetracker' thread.

Of course I'd be guilty of that kind of posting myself within the AOS namecheck tracker thread, which is now huge. Nobody has the time to sort through that thing anymore to look for trends or the experience of others.

Maybe post pruning? The ability to pull out valuable posts and pin them somewhere? I dunno. Even if we did that, who would be 'omnipotent enough' to be the gleaner?

It's a touch problem I think. Lots of good info is getting lost in huge threads.
