I-130 verbally approved. I-485 pending

I had my interview today in Houston

 

Arrived super early and checked in. They took my appointment notice then told us they are using a new system for check ins but to take a seat. Interview was scheduled for 845 and was seen at 10. Questions were relatively straightforward. He told us the I-130 was approved but he needed to review the case and we would find out in due course. No idea why and I'm feeling kind of disappointed not to have the full approval.

 

 

Some details

 

1) he asked me to confirm my latest entry as per my application. Since my application I had left the US then came back in Feb this year so presented him with a new I-94

2) he enquired several times about my military training that I received at university (Royal Air Force); a) was it voluntary or as part of national service  - voluntary b) did I receive fire Arms training - yes c) what did you do -flew military planes. 

3) asked for further evidence to support my application. Attorney gave him copies of the same which he kept  I offered originals but he quickly looked at them and gave them back. 

4) gave him a new medical which he checked and said it was fine. 

 

Is this scenario common; I-130 approved and I-485 pending and what sort of reasons....?

Im presuming he looked over the I485 and then just approved you. 

I hope you got a definitive answer but sounds like you were approved. I hope so.
