Hi guys,

Is N-400 online submission is legitimate to submit? I found on VJ the link for online submission and on Saturday I submitted N-400 application, also payed the fee by credit card. ( first I created account and after answering initial questions the system let me submitted the application)

Today I went to my attorney and told him I submitted online. He said there is no way to submit online, he went through all the forms & links on USCIS website and showed me which forms can submit where a link is available.

i logged into my account and able to see the case status and also can check status on USCIS website. Case received and mailed a notice.

can some one let me know is anyone submitted online and there case went up to an interview.

What link did you use to submit an N-400 online?

https://www.uscis.gov/file-online indicates this is not available for an N-400.

Completely legit! Most people with IOE apps filled online - if they didn't it was re-routed to the ELIS system. You can track peoples progress from the individual month pages - look for IOE.

Your lawyer may not know since it hasn't really been advertised as much. However the fact that we went through the trouble to dispute you seems rather stubborn and ignorant. Might consider looking for another lawyer.

Your lawyer is completely wrong.

The USCIS has been allowing a small number of applicants to file online for the past several months as you did on Saturday. I was one of those applicants and my interview was held on 4/5/17 after I applied online on 2/9/17, so it is completely legitimate.

I also had some opinions from immigration lawyers who were surprised at this new online option - I can't imaging they like this since it cuts them out of the process altogether since if it is simple enough to submit an N-400 application online, many people will start to wonder whey they even need a lawyer!

While everybody's case is different, I think you will find that your online application moves more quickly than the paper applicants who applied at the same time.

Thank you very much for the info. I was really scared when the attorney told I need to resubmit again as it will not move.

Appericiate your time & effort.

No problem. Also, if you log into your myuscis.dhs.gov account that you set up to submit the online N-400 application (this is not the Case Status on uscis.gov), you should already have a PDF of the I-797C receipt notice sitting in there. This is a copy of the letter that they have mailed to you.

One of the great advantages of the online account is that you can set it up to text and email you each time your case status changes and you can see the documents they are sending (biometric appointment, interview appointment, oath ceremony invitation) several days before they arrive in the mail.

If you don't already have your account set up to send these status notifications, I recommend that you log in and set up the notifications. You should also be able to see the PDFs when you log back into your account.

Finally, with the account security code notifications (the two stage process where you log in and they email/text you a security code), set it up so that it emails you AND texts to your mobile phone as sometimes the USCIS notification system doesn't send through the six digit account access codes properly via text and the security code emails always worked.

Great! Thanks again for the info. Yes I saw my case status when logged in, sure I will setup text & email as per your suggestions. Yes I have email & text set up for one time security code when I logged in.

I was actually about to start a new topic on this after doing a search for this topic here and finding nothing in the results.

I had no idea this existed and I'm kind of pissed. I was looking at the US Citizenship Tracker on Trackit and came across this April filer from NY with a timeline that made absolutely no sense to me (see below). The "application filed" date is the same as "received date" and  "check cashed" date I looked into this case deeper and found out it was e-filed. This filer has already done interview and has oath coming up on June 27. Unbelievable.

Did they mail you a biometric appointment letter or did you download and print out the appointment letter from your ELIS account and do a 'walk in' at the local USCIS fingerprinting office? A week to turnaround a fingerprint appointment is pretty impressive!
