Travel with a different country's passport

Could you choose not to get a US passport and travel to another country on your valid non-US passport?

If yes... What are the paperwork you need to bring to go back into the US? The naturalization certificate?

When you get back to the US there is a line for foreigners and a line for US citizens/permanent residents. You will be asked to produce your US citizen passport, otherwise it can get confusing.

You can enter to other countries with other passports. I have a friend that is Irish/American and traveled all over the world with both passports because usually the Irish passport could get him into more places.

You should always get a US passport even if you don't plan to use it. It is a good ID to have.

I think you must get your US passport to re-enter the U.S

Thank you everyone!!! I just read about the $60 expedite fee. So, I guess I could always go that route if I'm wanting to get a US passport ASAP.

If you have immediate travel plans (within the next two weeks), then you can apply through a passport agency,

If you are a USC you MUST use your US passport to enter the USA. This is a law. You can keep your other passport from your home country. You can use that to get into your home country or to enter any other country but must always declare your US citizenship when entering the US by using your US passport.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!
